*Please note that right now turn around time is about 8 weeks* This is such a fun way to use your old project scraps and recycle them to create a yarn that is absolutely magical! Truly unique, your yarn will be filled with dreamy colors and textures and be a lovely fibery reminder of past projects! HERE IS HOW IT WORKS: ---------------------------------- 1. Gather your scraps: Yarn, wool, cotton, thread, fabric, ribbon, tulle, just about anything and any length...and hey if the dog or cat hair gets in there even better! :) *PLEASE NOTE: If your scraps are all COTTON CORD, due to the time investment to process cotton I am only able to accept SANDWICH sized bags* Also please make sure that your scraps don’t contain knots as those can not be run through my drum carder. 2. Figure out how much scrap material you have and purchase the corresponding listing using the following guidelines: Sandwich bag of scraps - 20-30 yards of bulky yarn Quart bag of scraps - 30-55 yards of bulky yarn Gallon bag of scraps - 120-130 yards of bulky yarn *Yardage will completely depend on how full you stuff the bags and the content of material ( it may be more it may be less and materials such as ribbons or fabric may make for a smaller yardage)...so stuff them to the brim!* Heads up, I may not use all of your scraps for reasons such as ensuring the durability of the yarn, the material or if more than the purchased amount was sent. Whatever is not used will be send back to you. 3. You will then receive an email with instructions for sending scraps to me. We can also discuss any specifications or details of your yarn. 4. Send scraps per email instructions. *You will cover the shipping cost to send me your scraps* *I will cover the shipping cost when I send you your finished yarn* 5. Take a peek on Instagram @LittleFernFibers and follow your scraps along their fibery journey! ONCE I RECEIVE YOUR SCRAPS: -------------------------------------------- 1. I will sort through your scraps and get an idea of how your scrap medley will spin up. 2. I will hand card your fibers to create little puffy clouds of roving. 3. Next comes the spinning! I will spin and ply the scraps with another base wool to create a sturdy yarn. (I typically use a natural white merino wool so that the colors and textures of your scraps will really show- however we can definitely discuss a yarn base that is colored or darker- those can look really neat as well!) 4. I will wind your finished yarn into a skein and measure the yardage. 5. The yarn will receive a lovely warm bath to set and relax the fibers. 6. You will be notified when I ship your yarn back to you. SO FUN! A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND: --------------------------------------------- -The beauty of this yarn is that it is not perfect. An art yarn like this will not have a very consistent gauge and will be chunky, lumpy, bumpy, twisty and oh so magical! -Your scraps will come back in MULTIPLE SKEINS! -There are so many wonderful things to be done with art yarns such as these: weaving, adding finishing touches, fun edges, or accents to knitting or crochet projects Art yarn can create some AMAZING scarves and cowls too! A pretty garland? Wrapped around a flower vase? So many possibilities! Or even just display this beauty as a keepsake and reminder of all your past projects :) -Yardage is an approximation and not a guarantee- but I will do my best to stretch your scraps to create as much yardage as possible while keeping the integrity of the scraps and final yarn! I will give you the yardage information once the skein of yarn is spun and complete. If you would like ✨SPARKLES✨ added to you scrap yarn there is an additional cost of $5. This option can be chosen at checkout. If I do not receive your scraps within 4 weeks of purchase I reserve the right to cancel your order but will indeed be in touch so that we can figure something out if any snags should arise. Any questions throughout the process please don’t hesitate to ask :) Don't have enough scraps? Let me know and I can work from my stash :) HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR YARN: -------------------------------------------------- Hand wash only with mild detergent and room temperature water and try to not agitate in order to avoid felting. Lay flat to dry, do not tumble dry. Due to it's handmade nature, color may bleed during initial washes. Find us on Instagram @LittleFernFibers. Tag us and show us what you make!
