I create my patterns using a combination of computer and handmade finish and I design them in the style of 'pointillist' style of art which is a technique of painting in which small distinct points of primary colors create the impression of an intermediate color. So, when you look at the embroidered piece from a few feet away all colors mixed together and it looks very realistic. The first photo is the original work of the artist and the second is the embroidered result, according to the pattern. ELLE goes back to basics with these top tips that dispel, once and for all, the make-up myths out there
Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, 38, shared her congratulations for her teenage daughter Leah, 15, in a gushing Instagram post and said her late ex-husband would have been 'so proud'.
Office holiday parties can cause a little bit of a makeup freak-out. You want to look special but not crazy or over-the-top—a.k.a. water-cooler fodder. Which is why this eyeliner style Sienna Miller wore to the American Sniper premiere last night is perfect. She wore a smooth line of black liquid eyeliner on top with a softer line of bronze pencil on the bottom. Why this is so great: The bronze balances the more eye-catching line of black, but it's soft enough not to read as EYELINER from a few paces back. Which means your coworkers might not even register that you're wearing eyeliner until they get up close—they'll just notice that you look a little extra amazing. Effortlessly. Like the way you killed it at that one meeting earlier this month. Also: Charlotte Tilbury shows you how to create the perfect cat-eye Any of you going to try this one out?
We’ve all had the too-good-to-be true dream: your phone alarm sounds, you roll out of bed, and just like that you’ve got perfectly tousled hair. Ugh, so not so Miss Bedhead. But unruly ‘dos don’t always have to win—step AWAY from the beanies, bowlers, and baseball caps! All your hair needs is a bit of a reboot with some near effortless styling that results in an equally effortless look. These 20 hair hacks make messy look SO pretty that you might just convince your pals that you woke up like this.
This regency creation comes in two parts: an off-white cotton underdress that gathers at the low neckline with a satin ribbon, and a bodice of light mustard-colored velvet. The velvet is a really delicious fabric with subtle variations in color, a lovely sheen, and sturdy enough to achieve gravity-defying plumpness without foundation garments for most bust sizes. It is edged in white bias trim and lined in muslin. The eyelets are hand-sewn for historical accuracy and subtle beauty of detail. A grosgrain ribbon in a darker mustard laces up the front and can be tied at a tightness anywhere between ease of breathing and fainting spell. (Not that you'll need to attract any further attention once attired in yards of cotton and velvet.) SIZING. Ranunculus Market's standard sizing is as follows: XS: bust 30, waist 24, hip 36 S: bust 34, waist 28, hip 39 M: bust 38, waist 33, hip 42 L: bust 42, waist 37, hip 45 Please select the size that's closest to your measurements (always err on the larger side). I'm always glad to explain how to take measurements, so convo me if you have questions. If your size falls significantly outside of these standard sizes, RM is glad to tailor the garment to fit for a 10% additional cost. Some garments will require that a muslin precursor be mailed and fitted on you prior to making the final garment. You can learn more about the muslin service here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/118389500/muslin-service RM loves custom! read about our custom design process in our shop policies: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RanunculusMarket/policy?ref=shopinfo_policies_leftnav For a simple fabric switcheroo, custom color or alternate fabrics can be procured through our swatch service: http://www.etsy.com/listing/71570901/swatch-service Fabrics may vary slightly, but will always be lovely. I'm about as far as you can get from a fashionista; I hate trying on clothes, so my closet is a museum of ancient Ross and thrift store finds, and most of the time I'm just wearing jeans, a geek tee, and matching chucks. BUT. A big chunk of my heart belongs to ruffly skirts, flowy shirts, lots of layers, and, well, this kind of stuff: I would wear that post-apocalyptic Lolita thing on the right (made by Stilecht) EVERY DANG DAY. In fact, I've had that outfit Pinned to my woefully bare "Fashion" board for years, so a few months ago I went back to it and checked out Pinterest's "Related Pins." That's how the obsession began, you guys. I quickly discovered something called "Mori Girl" - which I now know is Japanese for "Forest Girl" - and fell in love. It's a fashion sub-culture that's checkin' all my boxes: loose frilly skirts, an A-line silhouette, lots of layers, boots, and NO HEELS. (Can I get an "hallelujah?") One of my favorite examples of Mori style is Mai Magi up there of Shortcut To The Stars (a Tumblr site that's gone now, sadly): Mai's rockin' a "Dark Mori" variation here, which has a more goth vibe with lots of blacks and gray. Loooove this silhouette. Classic Mori Girls wear lots of white linens and lighter colors, though still with an emphasis on natural fibers and muted colors: via Of course heavy layering is tantamount to heatstroke here in Florida - or most places during Summer - so next I went on a mission for lighter Mori looks. Tank via Skirts via It's a lot harder to find, but there are a few examples out there. The skirts are still layered, but they're shorter and lighter, which I can tell you from experience is great for swishing air around and keeping you cooler. Just skip the leggings and/or knee socks. If you go looking for Mori inspiration like I did, odds are you'll find most of it is being modeled by tiny Japanese beauties who would literally look gorgeous in a potato sack. In fact, I tried searching for "plus size Mori girl" - just to get a better idea of how a chunky geek girl like myself would look in this style - and I swear I heard Google laughing at me. Let's face it: layers are not always a friend to the fluffy. I was determined, though, so I did a little experimenting with stuff I already have. Now I *think* I've found some ways to pull off a little Mori style, even for me, even during a Florida summer. So if you like this look, too, here are a few things I've learned to get you started: - Try layering a dress over a skirt. BOOM. Instant Mori. - Go for long lines Even with a short skirt, go with longer loose tops, scarves, and necklaces, which all help draw the eye down towards your flouncy hemline (and away from possible tummy bulges). - Busty Babes Need Not Despair: If you're blessed with larger tracts of land, then this look can still work for you! Just look for tops/dresses that are tight/fitted until just below the bra line, then flow out to form an A line, like this: Larger land owners should probably avoid tops like this next one, which have pleats above the bra line: A bigger bust with these cuts can = a bigger looking belly, since the dress will fall straight down from your, er, mountain tops. Not good. That said, there are always exceptions, so wear what you love! (Or try adding a belt.) Another option: stick with all-over tighter tops: via And of course a darker color will make everything up there look smaller. (My shoulders are actually broader than my hips, so this visual trick has been a huge self-esteem saver for me. It may seem counter-intuitive to minimize your top assets and pad out your hips, but it's all about proportion!) - Stock up on tissue-light cardigans, scarves, and/or long vests. I'm talking see-through wispy stuff, so they have minimal bulk/ maximum air flow. via - Think steampunk You guessed it; this is another reason I love this style. Look for steampunky leather boots, natural and/or vintage jewelry pieces, woven or leather hip bags, and vintage hats/fascinators or hair clips to add a bit of fantasy to your forest fairy look. Ok, MY TURN. Even if I don't really manage a true "Mori Girl", I'm having fun incorporating parts of the look into my everyday wear. And yes, I have picture. Bad, blurry cellphone pictures. Still, just to prove a it can be done when you're more like a size 12 than a size 2: I bought this fake-suede, uber soft trapeze dress at Ross, but then never could figure out how to wear it. (But c'mon. It has POCKETS.) Layering it over my shredded orange skirt from my steampunk outfit gave it some much-needed body at the bottom. Then I topped it off - literally - with a long necklace and my slouchy brown "Grandpa sweater." It's still too warm for park runs right now, but perfect indoors in the A/C - and soooo comfy. The same skirt under a different dress, and two different cardigans: This one looks good with boots or flip-flops. Of course they have less body when I don't hold the skirt out, but it's still a decent amount of poof: Here's one of my favorites: This is another Ross dress, and I'm only five feet tall, guys, so look how short it is. I'm finding a lot of the casual knit dresses I love are inching shorter, so adding a skirt underneath makes them look better *and* be more wearable. (This skirt is a stiff canvas material, so it holds its shape without a petticoat. LOVE.) Here's a closeup of the accessories: And finally, a lighter look that's better for the Florida heat: Not really enough frills to be Mori, but I'm loving this layered skirt thing! I'm also seriously tempted to start sewing extra layers of ruffles onto the bottom of some thrift store skirts - and I am TERRIBLE at sewing, so I guess this must be love. Hope you guys enjoyed falling down another rabbit hole with me! And be sure to share outfit selfies over on Facebook if you decide to try your own version of Mori, so I can get more ideas! Photo Credits: Pinterest has not been my friend with sourcing these (grrr), but I've tagged what I could, and then most of the rest are catalog photos I believe from this Japanese store site, which has lots more eye candy. Happy browsing!

"The Wyndham Sisters: Lady Elcho, Mrs. Adeane, and Mrs. Tennant," by John Singer Sargent (1899) DIMENSIONS • 9" x 12" (Image: 7.5" x 10.31") • 12" x 16" (Image: 10" x 13.75") • 16" x 20" (Image: 12.38" x 17") • 20" x 30" (Image: 16" x 22") • 24" x 36" (Image: 19" x 26") Archival Inkjet on Fine Art Paper Smooth Surface - Matte Finish - Inset Borders ABOUT THE ARTWORK ----------------------------- John Singer Sargent's portraits are loose, yet refined; painterly in their execution, while stunning in their realism. He worked with a loaded brush directly upon canvas, without the aid of a drawing or underpainting; capturing every nuance of mood and personality, every play of light upon flowing garment, with an apparent swanlike ease. Working in this fashion he completed many hundreds of portraits during his career, and each is a fully realized masterwork with its own particular voice. ART-CENTRIC DESIGN ----------------------------- Vintage art is not standardized. The original works are usually too long, or too short, to neatly fill a store-bought frame. Most shops arbitrarily crop the artwork to match, leading to claustrophobic prints with missing or partial elements. These modifications — sometimes trivial, sometimes ludicrous — are not always shown in the product photos. We believe that the purpose of art is not to fill a frame; it is the purpose of a frame to showcase the art. Our prints have inset borders that make up any differences in proportion between the artwork and a standard frame, so that you can experience the art as the artist intended. They look sharp in beveled mats, may be float mounted, or inserted directly into standard frames; the borders providing a mat-like accent around the image. There are many styles from which to choose. Framing is a fun, creative process that enhances the artwork and livens your space for years to come. Should you like any advice, feel free to reach out. CUSTOMIZATION AND IMAGE REQUESTS ----------------------------- We are happy to customize our prints to fit your frame. Borderless prints may require the artwork to be cropped to fit a new aspect ratio. In such cases, we will provide a mockup to ensure that the final product meets with your approval. If you’re looking for an artwork that is not in our catalog, feel free to ask if we can provide it. We will print any public domain or openly licensed image that is available in high resolution. MUSEUM QUALITY ----------------------------- Giclée process prints are the gold standard in fine art reproduction. We use a matte finish, cotton fiber paper to maximize detail while eliminating glare. Our prints display a wide color gamut, deep blacks and beautiful tonal transitions. Produced using only archival materials, they will not fade or yellow, but maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. HANDMADE DECLARATION ----------------------------- To assure artistic quality, all of our production and design is strictly in-house. Every print has been proofed, calibrated and inspected for defects. We do not drop ship, resell or make use of third-party production partners. SHIPPING AND PACKAGING ----------------------------- All orders ship within one business day via USPS First Class, Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. Sizes 9” x 12” and 12” x 16” ship in a flat configuration, unless combined with larger prints, which require tubes. We will replace any lost or damaged items at no expense to you. HAPPINESS GUARANTEE ----------------------------- We will promptly address any issues that may arise with your order. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.
