Happy Winter Solstice! I love these Eucalyptus and Orange wreaths I made. Every time I walk by them the smell is wonderful. I love that they are festive, yet not overly so. Also, easy to make. Learn how to bend wire coat hangers into wreath forms, dry oranges, assemble your wreaths, and make mini wreaths as well; What You'll Need; Eucalyptus Oranges Wire Wire Coat Hangers Hammer What To Do; To Shape the Wreath Forms; Using your hands bend the wire coat hanger out of it's triangle shape. Bend it until it is more like a lumpy circle. Use the hammer to bang it in a circle. Use the hammer to smooth out the edges. It does not have to be perfect! The imperfections make it unique. To Dry the Oranges; Slice your oranges into about 1/8-1/4 inch thickness. Dehydrate in your dehydrator at 135° F for 4-12 hours. Or in your oven at it's lowest setting. How to tell when they are done? The oranges will no longer feel sticky or tacky. To Make the Wreaths; Using 2 inch strands of wire, attach sprigs of Eucalyptus to the form. Layer on more and more Eucalyptus until desired fullness is achieved. I like to leave a spot of wire bare, but you can cover as much as you want. Play around with thickness and direction of the Eucalyptus. Play around with the placement of the oranges. When you are pleased with the orange placement secure them down. Use two, one inch sections of wire per orange. Pierce the oranges and wrap the wire around the base. For Mini Eucalyptus Wreaths; To make the base, take a long piece of wire, and wrap it around itself, creating a circle. Using smaller pieces of Eucalyptus, attach them to the base with one inch sections of wire. Layer on and play around with thickness and placement.
