We present our second quilt pattern for the Celestial collection. Half the Way is a special quilt pattern, because we work with half a traditional block. Even the total layout of the quilt is like half that block. This gives room to show some intricate quilting. A fantastic quilt that you can make using a Layer Cake.We also wrap up our second Quilt Along. Bauhaus QAL has almost come to its end and we are going to dot our i’s and cross our t’s to get a beautiful end result.

Der Frühling ist definitv deutlich zu spüren, auch wenn es mancher Orts da und dort nochmals Schnee gegeben hat. Judith von (September's Quiltdelight) hat passend dazu zu einem frühlingshaften Bloghop aufgerufen. Seit ich quilte, habe ich jedes Jahr am Ende des Winters das starke Bedürfnis nach feinen, frühlingshaften Pastellfarben. Ich denke, das ist einfach mein Wunsch nach Frühling. Als ich mich im Dezember für den Bloghop einschrieb, wusste ich noch nicht was ich dazu machen würde. Später blätterte ich mich durch meinen dicken Ordner mit Quiltpattern und fand die Anleitung zu diesem Schmetterlingsquilt. Das Original ist ein regenbogenfarbiges (darum habe ich damals wohl auch ausgedruck *grins*) Free Pattern und heisst Hope Takes Flight. Das geniale daran ist, alle Schmetterlingsflügel werden aus einem Charm Pack genäht! Es braucht dann "nur" noch etwas Stoff für die Körper und natürlich den Hintergrundstoff... Da es kein Geheimnis ist, dass ich sehr gerne komplette Stoffkollektionen vernähe, konnte ich für diesen Quilt endlich mein gut gehütetes Zen Chic "For You" Charm Pack verwenden und habe mit nur einem Charm Pack einen ganzen Quilt genäht! (Oke... das Binding ist aus einer neueren Zen Chic Kollektion, aber... pssst!) Brigitte Heitland, die Designerin von Zen Chic, war ja im Februar hier in der Schweiz und hat uns zwei Tage lang unterrichtet. Sie hat uns viel erzählt, von der herangehensweise wie sie die Muster entwirft und wie sie arbeitet. Nun sehe ich ihre Stoffe und Designs mit anderen Augen. Ich habe die beiden Tage sehr genossen ♥ Aus diesen Stoffen habe ich vor ungefähr zwei Jahren schon mal ein Kissen genäht, damals mit einem Mini Charm Pack. Schon damals fand ich den Farbverlauf von Türkis/Grün/Pink/Orange ins Grau ganz toll! Das Binding habe ich, wie eigentlich bei fast allen meiner Quilts, von Hand auf der Rückseite angenäht. Das ist einer meiner liebsten Schritte beim herstellen eines Quilts und gehört für mich einfach dazu. Gequiltet habe ich den Quilt mit einem Pantograph-Muster. Ich sehe weitere Schmetterlinge in dem Quiltingmuster. Seht ihr sie auch?! Und ich habe absichtlich die "Flugrichtung" geändert. Irgendwie hat mich das Original etwas irritiert. Meine Schmetterlinge wollen aufwärts fliegen... *lach* Wenn ihr gerne mal schauen möchtet wie das Pantograph-Quilting geht, schaut euch gerne mein Video dazu an. Alle meine Pantograph-Muster werden von Hand geführt und sind nicht computergesteuert, nur so am Rande, da dies gerne vermutet wird ;-) Diese Woche hat gestern mit dem Beitrag von Judith (September's Quiltdelight) gestartet, heute bin ich an der Reihe, morgen geht es weiter bei Ingrid (Nähkäschtle) und Barbara (das mach ich nachts) macht den Wochenabschluss.
