It’s delicious, slightly fancy, and also happens to be so easy to make and store yourself. If you have a few lemons on hand, give it a try! METHOD > Soak your lemons in a tub of water and grapefruit seed extract. I clean all my produce with GSE, and you’ll be pretty disgusted when you see what comes out! > Using a microplane, zest each lemon from top to bottom. Be careful not to cross the same place twice. We only want the bright yellow zest, not the bitter white pith. > Transfer the zest to a plate covered with parchment and microwave for 30-60 second intervals (mixing between each) until it completely dries out. > You can do this in the oven at a low temperature, but it may take 24 hours. > Depending on the amount of zest you have, it may take more than four rounds in the microwave. > Once completely dry, mill it between your fingers to make it finer. > Transfer to jars or other glass storage containers (I used a spice jar) and store for up to six months to a year in a cool, dry place! #lemonrecipes #lemonzest #cookingwithlemon #lemondesserts #diyspices #diyfood".
