The Ghost Nebula is a reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It lies close to the Iris Nebula, an even brighter reflection nebula.

The bright clusters and nebulae of planet Earth's night sky are often named for flowers or insects. Though its wingspan covers over 3 light-years, NGC 6302 is no exception. With an estimated surface temperature of about 250,000 degrees C, the dying central star of this particular planetary nebula has become exceptionally hot.
The orion nebula region as captured from my backyard in Austin, Texas last Saturday night. I had been waiting for that perfect moonless night, free of clouds, but it just wasn't happening. The moon was 2/3 full and about 20 degrees away. I couldn't run very long exposures or high iso, but still I think this is my best effort so far. Still a work in progress, but getting there. Imaged with a CLS_CCD filtered canon 7D and 100-400mm lens at 400mm riding piggy back on Meade 8" LX200 classic, guided with an orion starshoot and phd. Images captured with backyardeos and stacked with nebulosity. 19x20s@iso400, 19x60s@iso400,13x180s@iso800, and lots of darks for each.
In celebration of the 29th anniversary of the launch of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers used Hubble to capture this festive, colorful look at the tentacled Southern Crab Nebula. The nebula, officially known as Hen 2-104, is located several thousand light-years from Earth. It appears to have two nested hourglass-shaped structures that were sculpted by a whirling pair of stars in a binary system. The duo consists of an aging red giant star and a burned-out star, a white dwarf. The red giant is shedding its outer layers. Some of this ejected material is attracted by the gravity of the companion white dwarf. The result is that both stars are embedded in a flat disk of gas stretching between them. This belt of material constricts the outflow of gas so that it only speeds away above and below the disk. The result is an hourglass-shaped nebula. The bubbles of gas and dust appear brightest at the edges, giving the illusion of crab-leg structures. These "legs" are likely to be the places where the outflow slams into surrounding interstellar gas and dust, or possibly material which was earlier lost by the red giant star. The Horsehead Nebula (aka Barnard 33 in the bright nebula IC 434) is a dark nebula in the Orion constellation. The nebula is located just south of Alnitak, the star furthest east on Orion's Belt. It is approximately 1500 light years from Earth. The darkness of the Horsehead is caused mostly by obscuring dust, although the lower part of the Horsehead's neck casts a shadow to the left. Streams of gas leaving the nebula are funneled by a strong magnetic field. The nebula is also an active star forming region. To the lower left of the Horsehead is the blue reflection nebula NGC 2023. Full Res: www.pbase.com/gailmarc/image/107719436/original This is an LHaRGB image (120, 180, 105, 105, 105 minutes). Total of 10.25 hrs. Subs were 30 mins for Ha and 15 mins for LRGB (unbinned). FOV is 41 x 60 arcmins @ 1.03 arcsec/pixel. It was taken with a Takahashi TOA-150 refractor @ F11.7 (FL=1760mm) using an SBIG STL 11000M camera and AO-L.
This diffuse emission nebula, often referred to as the Sadr Region or Gamma Cygni Nebula, is located approximately 2,000 light years from Earth in the constellation of Cygnus.
