This blog, using the contrast between clarity and darkness, between Light and Shadow, celebrates the beauty of Life through Woman and Nature.
If you went outdoors to observe the solar eclipse yesterday, you might have noticed that the shadows cast by trees had suddenly become quite strange. The

"Elegance in Details" is a stunning work of art that showcases the beauty and sophistication of wedding details. The delicate lace and shimmering fabric of the wedding dress serve as a backdrop for a flawlessly sculpted hand adorning an exquisite ring. The deep, dark background highlights the purity and clarity of the subject, while the gentle play of light and shadow creates an intimate and emotional atmosphere. It is an image that embodies the anticipation and romance of the wedding day.

Photography has many tips and tricks of the trade used both by amateurs and famous photographers - the many uses of light, perspective, darkness, exposure, and many other bits are what makes beautiful pictures. All of that wouldn't come to one unified look without shadows though as they are what gives the image depth or in some cases, changes the view entirely. Also, they're free, they're everywhere, and there's no limit to what you can do with them if you have the know-how.

Socar's Silly Photo Diary: Part Four of Six Here it is, just past tea on a Wednesday, and look at me: still in my nightgown, cluttering up the doorframe. Typical. I haven't even had tea. Cooking, apparently, looked too much like work. I'd order in, but I haven't got any money. I never have any money. There aren't enough jobs for door-loitering hoodlums. It's a lovely evening. The sun's going down over the city, and there's a floral smell abroad. Maybe I'll get dressed and go for a walk. Maybe I'll not get dressed, and go for a walk anyway. Who would know, with my coat over top?
On bright sunny days when light streams through a window, it will often leave a pattern of shadows from the window frame, a shutter or a lace curtain across the wall or floor. They are ephemeral patterns. Sometimes they will elongate and stretch out, other times they will be short, brief and transitory because of a passing cloud. These patterns of light and shadow tell us what time of day it is, they fill the room with a temporary design, but I like to think it also guides us on window treatments; what kind of curtains should we have, I would never want to cover a window so that we would loose daylight, but they are so necessary at night. With such a wide window and the varied grid pattern the light creates, a wide curtain pole is needed so it doesn't interrupt this lovely shadow. What a marvelous pattern. You can feel the breeze, but look at the pretty shadow on the wall, to me it is prettier than the curtain. And this dramatic screen of the shadow of a tree. Light, natural light, the way it illuminates our rooms, our minds, I find is an essential element in the concept of interior design. It gives the room soul and when you find a quiet moment you will see the light. images via Flickr
