Pictured left to right: Kora "Tree Fell" and Shayla "Ten Eyes" Kora (Born 714AV) was the daughter of the late Emperor, Talorajhi, and his most famous wife, Huraena. Huraena was the wife of King Barakuhm of Swakura, and the mother of the Sorceress Grazura and the Lost Baby Prince. She was stolen from Swakura after the Attonight conquest in 711AV and gifted to Chief Hashirvan to take as his wife. During her marriage to Hashirvan, she gave birth to Arzulan the Lightning Bolt. In 714AV, Talorajhi commanded Hashirvan to give Huraena to him, and he delegitimized Arzulan. Later that year, Kora was born, though she was such a large baby, that Huraena died in childbirth. Kora remained large and strong throughout her childhood, and this made socializing with the other children quite difficult. Her father was disgusted with her large stature, so he had his servants and attendants completely ignore her. She grew up mostly in isolation. When Oberajhi killed her father, her life only changed in one regard. Oberajhi began to train her half-sister Shayla, and Shayla wanted Kora to spar with her, so she could improve her skills, but mostly, it amounted to Kora being beaten with a wooden sword while trying to defend herself with a fallen branch. Kora’s life completely changed when Grazura married Oberajhi and learned that she had a sister. Grazura implored her husband to have Kora formally trained as well. She sparred with Gortok the Orc, as they shared a strength that few others did. Grazura then gave Kora a special task. The Attonight Empire wanted to know the strength of the Northern Kingdom, but it was very difficult to infiltrate. They did know that the North was plagued by bandits, so there was a high demand for hired swords to defend keeps and holdfasts. Therefore, they decided to send Kora as a hired sword in the hopes that she would find herself in the employ of house Blythe. From within their walls, she could report on their numbers, supplies and trade networks, so that the Empire could come up with a strategy for Northern conquest. However, Kora felt as though she was being banished from court to freeze in the North, or die in battle. Her sister convinced her that it was a crucial and honourable task, so Kora agreed. Kora was instructed to change her identity and build up a reputation in the North before approaching House Blythe. When she got to the North, her first stop was at Eltogar, the seat of House Maine, at the base of the Eastern cliffs of the Frost Gate. She’s defended farmers and other smaller keeps from Northern Raiders and her services quickly became in high demand. A representative from House Blythe contacted Kora in 734AV with a contract to capture or kill a Northern Raider spy that was burning crops and killing livestock near Ice Lake. It was implied that should she be successful; she may be hired to work in or around Thunderhall. She is hesitant to report her findings to her sister, as she is beginning to make a life for herself in the North. Shayla (Born 714AV) was one of the many children of the late Emperor, Talorajhi. She grew up in the halls of the Imperial palace, and even as a child, her father attempted to use her as a token to barter alliances through marriage. When her half-brother, Oberajhi, killed her father, she was temporarily free from her duty to marry, as her brother settled the discourse throughout the Empire. He told her that he would survey the land and ascertain his greatest allies. He then would present her with a choice of families with which a marriage pact would most benefit his rule. In return for her compliance, he agreed to train her to fight so that she would not be vulnerable to danger in a foreign land. When she turned 16, the time for her marriage arrived. There was great turmoil in the Empire as Oberajhi had disbanded the Imperial Army and began to engage the Kalaroccan Kingdoms in a guerilla-style war. Shayla wanted to join her half-brothers in their conquest, as she especially looked up to Iman and Tarshik. Shayla used the chaos in the palace to escape Attenor on a supply ship bound for the front lines. As the ship sailed north around the Isles of Sodek into Baron’s Bay, they were set upon by a small ship with a black sail filled with ragged looking Knights. The knights boarded the ship, killed those on board and sailed the ship to the mouth of the Marshes. When they unloaded the ship, they found Shayla. She told Sir Orzalon that she was a slave trying to escape. When he finished translating to a large brute she assumed was their leader, the brute shook his head and they seized her. They continued to question her about her good health until she confessed that she was a servant in the Imperial Palace. They asked her if she knew where the Emperor’s highest profile prisoners were held. When she paused, Orzalon told her that one of their men was captured by Imperial forces and that if she helped them rescue him, they’d let her go. Seeing no other option, she agreed. She detailed the layout of the prison, the guard’s shifts, and the weak points in the walls. Her intelligence proved to be invaluable and a month later, the Knights had rescued their friend and she was released with a sword in her hand. She travelled West by rowboat, as the lands around the Storm Hold were a warzone. She arrived at Channelstone some days later, starving and with no money. Three men approached her and pulled knives. Within seconds, she disarmed (and slightly dismembered) them. She only knew one thing about cities in Thronfeld and it was that Marshals were the law, and to bring a wanted criminal to a Marshal would fetch a bounty. That day, her career as a bounty hunter began. With each passing day, her desire to reunite with her brothers faded. She knew that returning to her home would only mean submitting to a life trapped in a castle as the wife of some Lord. She is one of the most respected and wealthiest bounty hunters in Western Thronfeld, earning the nickname “Ten Eyes” from her ability to always find who she’s looking for. No one can be certain where either of these warriors allegiances truly lie.
