Een paar weken geleden liet iemand het me op Instagram weten: er was een nieuwe wolwinkel in Utrecht open en moest ik daar niet eens even langs? Mijn oortjes gingen overeind staan. A couple of weeks ago someone tagged me on Instagram. There was a new yarn shop in Utrecht, and had I visited it yet? My heart skipped a beat. A brand new yarn shop? In my own little Utrecht! Now that's wonderful news, as it's really what the city needed I think. And that's why I visited this brand new yarn shop Sticks & Cups last weekend. The big opening of this store will take part on October 1st, but until then the doors are wide open, the yarns are stashed up hight and outside there are some comfy benches to crochet or nit on, or have some coffee. There used to be a vintage shop in this historical shop in Utrecht and the venue is just amazing. A must-go if you ever visit Utrecht. As soon as you walk into the store you'll get a very warm welcome from the owner Lili, who fled Iran when she was 4 years old to come to The Netherlands with her parents. She is passionate about everything yarn and her enthusiasm is very catching. She loves knitting, crocheting and spinning. Lili emphasises on yarn originated from The Netherlands, so you'll find lots of Scheepjes yarns and hand dyed yarn by Dutch indie dyers at Sticks & Cups, as well as a whole collection of Lopi yarns. Lili is hoping to have the back of the store completely filled with indie yarns soon. I was immediately attracted to cupboard with Scheepjes Stonewashed, but the fine flittery yarn was also amazingly beautiful. Hopefully I'll be able to make the grand opening on October 1st. Lily also told me that she'll organise knit ins, on Thursday nights after the big opening and I think that's so clever. We don't have anything similar in town and I do feel Utrecht needs this. Hopefully I'll be able to join the knit ins often, and Lily won't mind me crocheting instead of knitting. Welcome to My Rose Valley's little Yarn Shop! I am officially opening the doors for my new Yarn Shop page. This is exciting. I feel like a 7 year old Annette playing Post Office, pretending to fill out bills, order slips, stamping and receiving cash in form of buttons and playing cards form my friend the customer... So childish and so much fun. After the Scrumptious Tilda Yarn Give Away I took the chance to order some extra yarn in your favorite colors, and now they are here and ready for your to shop and try. The selection is limited, take your chance and order your favorite colors pronto before anyone else gets it... I really hope you will enjoy this wonderful yarn as much as I do. Kärlek Annette
What a dream to have this! 💘 **Not entirely sure exactly where this photograph originated..

This is a little bit of something I'm doing for The Studio, a yarn shop where I work. (www.thestudiokc.com) This was an interesting experiment. It's hard photographing with an emphasis on the garment when you're used to the emphasis being on the person. I hope not too much got lost in translation.
When you start a yarn shop, you may be tempted to carry as many varieties and colors of yarn as possible. You'll also need to carry a variety of supplies. However, carrying too much inventory can place a financial burden on your yarn shop. Target your purchases toward your potential customers and the voids in the ...
