This triangular mini garden was one of the exhibits at this year's RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show Flower show has been held at the Hampton Court Palace since 1989. Edwin Salmon, "Five Brothers, Hold My Breath", 2016, Painted Steel I Beam and Acrylic Sheet, 25" x 12" x 12" This sculpture will ship disassembled and will require assembly. "Hold My Breath" is from Edwin Salmon's "Five Brothers" series of "Architectural Abstractions". Unlike the other 4 sculptures in the series, where the plexiglass is transparent, "Swallow the Sea" features panels of mirrored plexiglass. Structural steel is the foundation from which Salmon creates his art. Steel, cement, wood, and glass materials reference building processes in modern construction. Stock forms are cut, bent, fastened, cast, and rolled to create dynamic movement, making even the heaviest steel I beams seem light and airy. From the artist: "The use of postindustrial waste and remnants in my art creates a commentary on consumption. Through the use of texture and color, the finishes evoke a variety of moods. My intent is to breathe life into building materials and create sculptures that emit an energy and presence that is distinctly their own.
