gedächtnis-kirche, berlin 1957-1963. architect: egon eiermann, 1904-1970. the exterior of this wall. eiermann appears to connect the rationalism of ludwig mies and auguste perret in his steel frame and concrete panels that act as brise soleil in the office wings and as a prefabricated concrete curtain wall in the church where the coloured glass infill create the effect of a gothic window. thus eiermann combines the classical and the gothic in the church just as auguste perret had done in his. this is german romanticism holding its breath.
