Ever since I discovered the Great Dickens Christmas Fair in San Francisco, attending (or working) the fair has been an annual Christmas tradition. Nothing sets me up for the Christmas spirit like wandering the streets of London in 1840s-1850s clothing, admiring handmade gifts, sampling meat pies, drinking hot buttered rum, singing carols, dancing at Fezziwig's

Next up in my Dancing Maries series is this lovely creature that resembles a Magical being. Here I have created a whimsical stage so she can be the Fairy Queen of France. After all... Who can resist the mystique that was Marie Antoinette? This Marie Antoinette inspired fashion plate is from the late 1700's and though not Marie Antoinette herself, she does represent her quite well. Marie as the Fairy Queen of France For this digital art-piece, I've taken one of my altered Maries and paired her up with several fun elements I've purchased from PaperWhimsy (Marie and the frame are mine, all the other images came from PW.) I started with this original image of a Late 18th Century "Opera Costume" fashion plate. Original image I started with I altered the above lady into various "colorized png versions and then choose the lovely pink and blue one for my digital art-piece. Here is the assortment of png images I created from the original. Dancing Marie #2 Original Colors Olive Dress Blue and Green Dress Peacock Colors Pink Dress Pink and Blue ( I used this as my Fairy Queen) Plum Colored Dress Turquoise Dress Now a bit about the Fairy Queen of France Scene The lady herself is quite lovely but what adds the "magic" to this piece are all the fun bits from PaperWhimsy. There is a great "doorway" image that I used in whole in the background and then an adapted portion to the front as a secondary "frame" for my Marie. The background behind the curtain and the floor are PW backgrounds, I altered in both color and shape to work with my piece. Next up is the "magic" the jewels and stars that are scattered about for that extra special bit that turns makes her the "Fairy Queen". Each of these PaperWhimsy images came from the section called Hybrid Images - Digital Artists I really have a fondness for the images at PW and seem to use them quite frequently in my digital art creations. I hope you get a chance to check them out and hopefully find some "magic" pieces for your own collection too. Finally the last touch on my digital piece is the frame. Yup, this is another one from my personal collection of vintage frames. Vintage Photo Frame ************** Join me again for Dancing Maire #3 and Friends Coming Soon Teaser of the next Marie - Maire #3 The Gothic Arch on the above "teaser" is from PaperWhimsy till then...
