Learning Objective: - To know that each individual is part of a larger community - To know that you are responsible for your actions towards God and His creation - To understand how correctly fulfilling our responsibilities will bring peace to those around us - To understand how our wrong actions contribute to bringing destruction to those around us. - To understand that you can not blame others for your actions. Qur'an Verse: You are the best nation produced for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong 3:110 As God's khalifa, His Ambassador's on Earth, we have a responsibility as emphasised by the Qur’an to care for God’s creation, our parents, the poor, our neighbours and the environment around us. We must live in the way that the Qur'an and the Imams have taught us. We must encourage others towards goodness and stand for what is wrong. This responsibility gives us the power to make a change in the world. It all depends on the way you choose to respond. When you look at the world around you and see that some people are in need, you have a choice to help them or not. If Allah has blessed you with something that others may not have, then it becomes your responsibility to share it with others. When we see injustice or wrong, we must stand for the truth. Fulfilling your duty to the creation brings peace to those around you. When we do not act responsibly, our actions become destructive and contribute to the problems faced by people suffering in the world. “When a poor person dies of hunger it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her but because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed.” Mother Teresa. Activity: Play the blocks game Jenga where players in turn have to carefully remove a block until the tower collapses. When the tower falls, ask whose responsibility was it that it fell? Was it the one who removed the last brick? Explain how every time a block was removed, the tower became weaker and so all of those who played and removed a block contributed to its eventual destruction. Every time you do wrong and do not act responsibly, it has a knock on consequence. You can not blame others. You are responsible for the destruction that your actions contribute to.
