Do you have students who struggle with carefully blending sounds left to right to decode? Do they say each sound and then make a wild guess? We all have those students. Successive blending is when you start with the first sound and then progressively add in each next sound, until all of the sounds have been blended. This is one way to help kids who struggle with blending. I noticed that I had a need for a product like this to help my students who were struggling with the concept and skill of blending, so I made this for use in small, differentiated groups. Can also be used as whole group practice depending on time of year and student needs. These practice pages can be made into booklets or put into plastic sleeves or even sent home for reading practice homework. I use these in my small groups and also have students use them for a warm up independent practice before reading independent decodable texts during our Workshop/Centers time. What’s included: 24 Successive Blending pages, each aligned with a phonics skill and while it happens to be noted/aligned with UFLI Lessons, these can be used with any phonics program. This resource includes all short vowels in words that are CVC, Blends (CVCC, CCVC, CCCVC, & CCVCC), FLSZ words, and Digraphs (ck, sh, th, ch, wh, ph, -ng, and -nk) I hope this resource works for you!
