Hello Everyone! You should have heard the OOOOH's and AHHHH's today during math. Yes, math!! :) We continued our exploration of symmetry today by creating our own sensational symmetrical shapes. I know you have probably all done this before, but the kids loooooved it, so I thought I'd share. The kids had a plain manilla piece of construction paper. They had to decide whether they wanted to fold their paper to find the line of symmetry vertically or horizontally. Then they got to squirt a few different colors on one side of the line. Next came the mysterious part. They folded the paper again and rubbed the places where they could feel the paint. Then, open the paper back up! Tah-Dah! OOOOH! AHHHH! A quick, easy, and beautiful way to show symmetry. I also wanted to do a quick share of a new ultra mini unit I put together introducing kids to our natural resources. We begin this unit next week. We will be studying this for several weeks, so I will be adding to it as we go along, but this 29 page cross curricular unit will help to introduce. Here are a few pics. Mini posters for air, water, soil, trees subtraction mystery picture using a 120 board Hands on activities 6 page problem solving mini book You can click here for your printable!! Till next time, thanks for taking a peek into our window of wonder! Have a great night! Joyfully! Nancy

Hello Everyone! I am so sorry I haven't been on lately. Crazy, busy week! Among a gazillion other things, we continued with our study of natural resources, this week focusing on water. We wrote some great little poems, created a collage similar to our tree from last week, and made rain! Here are a few pics! I'll let them tell the story of a few things from our week! :) Brainstorming "________water" anchor chart Love the Water Drop concrete poems! Making a raindrop collage from magazine scraps was sooooo fun! We'll put it up next to our tree from last week! Making rain is as simple and cheap as filling a can with ice, water, and blue foodcoloring, and watching the outside of the can for about a half an hour. Water forms on the outside of the can and drips down. Blue food coloring is added to the water on the inside to show that it is not that water that is leaking. Here's the "Making Rain" activity. Click here to download. Directions and student recording sheet included Other Natural resource activities can be foundHERE!! Well, I'm sorry this is so short, but I am fading fast! Next week? some plant activities, finishing measurement, media learning, air experiments, and tons of reading and writing!! WooHoo!! As always, thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend! Joyfully! Nancy

So tomorrow we begin our Water Unit. I thought it might be good if the little darlin's had a book to make to go along with the unit. So here's how it's going to go. We'll read the books listed in the freebie and as we learn new vocabulary, we will list it in the Alpha Box. We will learn the water cycle, and create a water cycle bracelet to go along with it (Thank you, Pinterest!) We will experiment with objects that sink and float and document our findings. We will learn about the three different forms of water and draw and write about it. We will learn about how we use water and draw and write about it. We will also write a fictional writing about how a day would be without water. Please download, by clicking on the picture below. Enjoy!!
