Thank you so much for watching! xoxo, Missy French Mohawk Braid Supplies: Rattail comb 2 Hair sectioning clips Clear elastic 2 Bobby pins French Mohawk Braid Instructions: Step 1 / Begin by dividing out a section of hair for the braid so create two parallel part lines at the corners of the forehead and clip down the bottom hair. Step 2 / Pick up a small section near the hairline and divide it into three smaller pieces for the braid. Step 3 / I’m going to start by crossing the right strand over the middle and then the left strand. Step 4 / Now cross the right strand over the middle, pick up a new section and add it into the middle strand. Step 5 / Then cross the left strand over the middle, pick up a new section and cross it into the middle strand. Step 6 / Repeat these steps crossing the side strands over the middle strand while bringing new sections into the braid until it reaches the crown of the head. Step 7 / Tie off the end of the braid with a clear elastic band. Step 8 / Then to hide the elastic, divide out a small section of hair, wrap it around the elastic band and pin it underneath with a bobby pin. Step 9 / Gently back comb the ponytail a little bit to add some volume. Step 10 / Spritz the ponytail with some hairspray for hold and smooth down any flyaways.

Take your favorite style up a notch with a Dutch fishtail mohawk braid. Whether you love the half up bun or a more simple ponytail, adding an accent braid can take your hairstyle to that next level. I love this look for wearing everyday and once you get down the basics for creating this braid you can wear it to fit your own personal style. Whether you add a mini bun or big messy bun, this is a great technique to keep in your beauty routine. Dutch Fishtail Mohawk Braid Supplies: Rattail Comb 2 Hair sectioning clips 1 Hair elastics 1-2 Bobby pins 1 Hair band Hairspray Dutch Fishtail Mohawk Braid Instructions: Step 1 / Start by brushing the hair straight back from the hairline. Step 2 / Create a part on the left side of the head and clip down the bottom hair. Step 3 / Then create a similar part on the right side, clipping down the bottom hair. Step 4 / Pick up a small section of hair at the hairline and divide it into three sections. Cross the right section under the middle. Then cross the left under the middle strand. Step 5 / Now combine the middle strand with the right strand and we’re going to switch to a fishtail braid. Step 6 / Take a small section from the right side, cross it underneath and add it into the left side. Pick up a new piece of hair and cross it under to the left side too. Step 7 / Then take a small piece from the left side, cross it under to the right. Pick up a new section of hair and cross it under to the right side as well. Step 8 / Continue creating a dutch fishtail braid so just continue crossing small section from the outer edge underneath to the opposite side and bringing in new sections of hair until the braid reaches the back of the crown. Step 9 / Braid a few more stitches of a fishtail braid, grab a comb and gently backcomb the end of the braid so that it doesn’t unravel. Step 10 / Go back and gently pull on the sides of the braid to make it a wider and more full. Mini Bun Instructions: Step 1 / Place an elastic band over the fingers of the right hand. Step 2 / Take the end of the braid and grip it in the right hand. Step 3 / Use the left hand to pull the elastic band halfway over the hair. Step 4 / Twist the left hand underneath the section, twisting the elastic band at the same time. Step 5 / Release the left thumb and pop it into the elastic band. Step 6 / Grab the base of the bun and wrap the elastic band once more over the top. Step 7 / Then take the ends and loop them back into the elastic band to create another loop. Step 8 / Move the bun around and pin down any loose pieces until you like the way it looks. I love the edgy look of this style and think it gives the half up bun a new kick. Ponytail Instructions: Step 1 / After finishing the braid, brush the rest of the hair into a high ponytail and tie it off with a hair band. Step 2 / Divide off a small section of hair from the ponytail, wrapping it around the hair band and secure it underneath with a bobby pin. I think this is such a great style for playing sports, wearing to the gym or really just to keep your hair up and out of the way. High Bun Instructions: Another great way to style this braid is with a messy bun and here’s my favorite way to do one. Step 1 / Start by brushing the hair up high on the head. Place a hair band over the fingers on the right hand and grip the ponytail with the same hand. Step 2 / With the left hand, pull the hair band over the ponytail until it’s about half way through. Step 3 / Take your left thumb and place it underneath the ponytail, right under the hair band, grabbing it with the thumb and pointer finger to grip it in the left hand. Step 4 / With the remaining four fingers still gripping the hair band, twist the hand downwards, twisting the ponytail at the same time and bring the hand underneath the hair. Step 5 / Release the thumb, letting go of the hair, and pop the thumb into the hair band. Step 6 / Twist the hand towards the base of the bun and grip the hair with that hand. Step 7 / Use the right hand to pull the hair band off of the left hand, wrapping it down around the base of the bun. This creates the first two loops of the bun. Step 8 / Pull on the right bun to tighten the hair against the head. Step 9 / Take the remaining hair sticking out from the bun and loop it back into the hair band to create the third loop of the bun. Step 10 / Smooth flyaways with hairspray and set the style. Top knots are always an easy go-to for me so I love how this fishtail braid adds an extra edge to an otherwise basic hairstyle.

Step 2 / Then divide out some hair to frame the face. Step 3 / Next pick up a section on the left side of the part and divide it into three sections for the first french braid. Step 4 / Begin the braid by crossing the right strand over the middle and then the left strand over the middle. Step 5 / Now cross the right strand over the middle, pick up a new section of hair and cross it over the middle as well. Step 6 / Then cross the left strand over the middle, pick up a new section of hair and cross both over the middle strand. Step 7 / Now repeat those steps crossing the side strands over the middle strand while adding new sections into the braid until it reaches the left temple. Step 8 / Now stop adding in new hair and braid the section to the bottom in a regular three strand braid before crossing two bobby pins over the ends. Step 9 / Now clip this braid out of the way and begin the second french braid right underneath it. Step 10 / Pick up a section of hair at the hairline, dividing it into three smaller pieces and crossing the side strands over the middle strand while adding new hair into the braid. Step 11 / Once the braid reaches the ear, braid it a little further down and then pull on the edges to make it fuller before sliding two bobby pins over the end. Step 12 / Now divide out a section of hair at the top of the head and add the top braid into this section. Step 13 / Wrap an elastic band once over the section. Step 14 / Then spread the ponytail around the elastic band and then wrap the elastic twice more over this mini bun. Step 15 / Now pull on the edges of the bun to make it bigger while tightening it against the head. Step 16 / Then take the ends that are left sticking out and tuck these back into the elastic band. Step 17 / Now do the same thing with the rest of the hair creating a second little bun right underneath the first one and then pin down any edges that are sticking out with bobby pins.
