Students analyze function graphs then match the graphs to short stories. This activity works great as a group or partner activity. Each student can be given his or her own answer sheet to pass in for credit. You can also choose to have partners work on the digital version together. Both print and digital are included. Each story describes a walk between home and school at a mixture of constant and non-constant rates. Students will need to think about the shapes of graphs when speed is increasing, decreasing or staying the same as well as the slopes of the graphs when moving towards or away from the origin. This download includes both a printable and digital version of the activity. The digital version is drag-and-drop in GOOGLE Slides. In the digital version, there are 4 graphs and 5 stories per slide so that students cannot just rely on process of elimination to match the graphs to their stories. You can delete the distractor story from each slide before sharing with students to lower the difficulty. There are 18 total graphs and stories as well as one extra credit problem asking students to write their own story about a graph. Includes student answer sheet and answer key.
