One thing I’ve learned from more than a decade writing about Alaska travel is that it’s definitely a ‘choose your own adventure’ destination. Some people want a pre-set itinerary with minimal effort traveling between points A and B – the highlights tour, either on their own, or with a guide. Others want to go – quite literally – off the grid, escaping the crowds and boondocking in a unique form of transportation.
