Good morning! Yesterday I had a busy day so I didn't had time to make this tutorial. So therefore I made it today. I made some more bushes, made a lot of pictures and here it is: my tutorial for making your own shrubs! As you see I made two varieties, a darker one and a lighter fluffy one. Depending on the type of flock you use, you get different looking shrubs. Materials I used: Fibrous yarn Green colored 0.5mm wire Cutting pliers Green colored paints (Vallejo Model Air no. 71006 cam.light greenp & 71.093 field green) Cheap can of hairspray Flock blends (GFS017 Hobby Round: Meadow Blend Flock & Berka 9004 strooisel d. groen) Scissors Straight pin to untangle the fibers Airbrush (+ cleaning accessories) To make these shrubs I started with a ball of fibrous yarn that I had lying around from an other hobby: crocheting. If you don't have such a type of yarn you can also use some stringy rope of cord. I used this one because I could easily separate it in a fibrous and smooth strand. From both pieces of yarn I made different shrubs using the same method but other paint and flock. First cut of a piece of yarn and separate it in two stands, then wrap the strand around your fingers. Cut of a piece of wire, put in in the middle of the yarn (like for making a pompom) and twist the wire tightly. Cut the loops open and cut it in a shrub like shape that you want. Use the straight pin to untangle the fibers if this is necessary. If you're happy with the shape spray it with the hairspray to make it more rigid. Airbrush the ball of yarn with green paint (you can also use a can of spray paint). Spay it with hairspray to make it sticky and cover it with flock. If it isn't fully covered with flock or you want a thicker coat, repeat the hairspray and flock coating again until you are satisfied. When your shrub is finished, cover it with hairspray to protect your work (so the flock doesn't come off) and make it more rigid. If you want to use your shrub on a base, piece of terrain or diorama, cut off a piece of the wire but leave it long enough to secure it on your project. At the moment I don't cut the wire shorter because my diorama is not yet ready to be put together. I hope you found this tutorial useful and that maybe some of you will also try it. If you do, please show me a picture! I also have a new follower, yeah! I now have 50 followers already!!! My new follower is Ptr from http://huggochslag.blogspot.be/! Welcome to my blog!
