See below for wood descriptions -- TACKS: Chosen at checkout, see photo for choice of tack colors. -- LEATHER: See photo for leather colors. I dye much of my own leather, therefore ALL LEATHER COLORS ARE APPROXIMATE. Please leave us a comment indicating your preference. These bellows are approximately 18 inches long and 7 inches wide. A sturdy brass hinge connects the paddles under the leather boot, which features a brass nozzle. These bellows are made to last for generations, while bringing a sense of history to your hearth. A few puffs from these bellows will help get a fire started in your fireplace, wood stove or fire pit. Due to the length of the bellows, they are shipped with the nozzle wrapped separately from the body. Simply screw the nozzle onto the body and they'll be ready for use. LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT NOZZLE FOR YOUR BELLOWS? I offer replacements at a very reasonable cost. Please contact me to inquire about a replacement. Please note that these nozzles will only fit bellows made by me. WOOD TYPES AND DESCRIPTIONS: OAK: Light colored wood, very heavy and hard, engraves well. Makes a hefty bellows. Always available. POPLAR: Very light colored wood, usually has pink and green streaks. Very lightweight. Engraving marks not as dark as other woods. If you're concerned about lifting a heavy bellows, poplar is a good choice. Always available. SASSAFRAS: Light colored wood, lightweight, engraves well. Sometimes available. WALNUT: Very dark colored wood. Most of my walnut is predominantly dark brown with silver and bluish streaks. Each board is different. Very heavy, engraves well but the engraving doesn't stand out as well as lighter woods. Sometimes available. Note: Wood is a product of nature, and can have knots, streaks and small cracks. Some wood, especially oak, can have small worm holes and channels. These imperfections are naturally occurring and lend interest and texture to our wooden items. I always avoid any imperfections that would affect the structural strength of the item, but usually just fill small surface cracks. IF YOU PREFER WOOD WITH FEW OR NO IMPERFECTIONS, PLEASE CONVO ME PRIOR TO ORDERING SO I CAN CHECK MY STOCK FOR THE WOOD YOU'D LIKE. My bellows and other wooden items are crafted by hand in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. I prefer to bring new life to antique wood by recycling lumber from old barns, houses and furniture to create our one-of-a-kind pieces. Imperfections in the wood such as knots and worm holes grace these timeless designs. Created using a combination of hand tools and modern technology, our items are beautiful as well as functional. Do you like what you see, but would prefer a different stain or engraved design, or no design at all? Please contact me to inquire about custom items. There is no extra charge for custom designs and engraving. ALLOW APPROXIMATELY 3-4 WEEKS PROCESSING TIME FOR CUSTOM ORDERS. To care for your bellows, treat the wood occasionally with a quality furniture polish. To keep the leather soft, rub it with a leather conditioner such as mink oil. INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Customs charges and import taxes are not included in the price of the item or the shipping costs. Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs. Disclaimer: Washing your bellows is not recommended. While I do finish my bellows with a couple of coats of tung oil finish, washing the wood will remove the finish and wash away the char left by the engraver. This will significantly lighten the engraved design. Lightly brush away any debris with a damp cloth, avoiding the engraved area.

A shapely and playful take on the classic fireplace bellows. These bellows can be used to help get your winter fires going by blowing air on your kindling. The nozzle is brass and turned on the lathe in our Massachusetts studio. The walnut wood frame is also made and finished with custom made shellac in our studio. And finally, they are upholstered with leather hides and brass plated tacks. We hope that our bellows feel like functional sculptural pieces that you can display next to your wood stove or fireplace. Specs: Brass, walnut, leather 18.5" x 7.75" x 2.5" Please follow fire precautions as anyone should when lighting a fire. Talk to your local fire department or chimney sweep about fire safety.
As you can see by looking around our shop, we make a lot of fireplace bellows of many designs. These are the bellows that started it all. These fireplace bellows are a beautiful and functional accessory for anyone's fireplace or woodstove. Unlike many bellows available in stores, these are not flimsy "decorative accessories". They are built for people who depend on their fireplace or woodstove for heat and who appreciate that a good set of bellows is a valuable tool (although we think they are beautiful as well!) We make them from a variety of contrasting hardwoods, depending upon wood availability, but they are all quite similar. The darker wood is always in the middle unless you'd like to switch that up. Some of the woods we have used are: maple, alder, American cherry, butternut, walnut, poplar, birch, and cedar. The fireplace bellows in this listing is made of maple (the handle) and cherry. We finish the wood with tung oil, a natural vegetable oil that enhances the depth of the wood grain. The bag consists of 2-3 ounce leather, very supple and able to produce a strong draft. We build the bellows with a strong steel hinge (covered by the leather) for dependability and a long life. They come with a rawhide lace tied to the handle, making them easy to display. They measure 20-1/4" long, 7-3/8" wide, 5" deep when open, and 2" deep when closed. As with all of our products, if you would like to have us make our fireplace bellows from a specific wood, or would like additional carving, please convo us, so we can discuss your ideas
The reason we started making fireplace bellows in the first place is that we like wood heat. We've spent hours on a cold winter's night watching the dancing flames that are keeping us warm. It's no surprise then that the fat, warming flame was the perfect image to carve on our fireplace bellows. We made the quatrefoil hole just because Roy thinks they're fun to do. Make the flames in your fireplace dance. These bellows are cherry, but we'd love to make them out of any wood you'd like. Dimensions: 20-1/4" long, 7-3/8" wide, 5" deep when open, and 2" deep when closed.
Unique mothers day gift! The beam is hollow for weight reduction and to fit over the hidden mounting plate. I also offer solid pine beams on my Etsy store. I handcraft custom size lodge style wood fireplace mantels and I imitate the look of aged, weathered, distressed and vintage barn wood. It is a floating shelf mantel type. Tell me the exact size you want and I can make it to your specifications. I am imitating the look of an old hand-hewn barn beam. Made from 3/4-inch solid pine wood. This is my most popular size fireplace mantel actual size is 7.25" high x 8"” deep. I can custom make a deeper too. The wood is distressed, the edges are grinded to imitate wear and tear, wire wheeled to raise the grain, run over with a chain saw to give the rough sawn look, lightly sanded to show aged wear and finally scorched with a flame to add character, age and bring out the grain. The weight is from 16 to 27 LBS. The fireplace mantel secures to the wall with a mounting bracket and heavy-duty butterfly type drywall toggle anchors (provided). All mounting parts are included. I send it with printed mounting directions, and I also have an online installation video. This item ships for free in the US. Please indicate what custom color you would like. Corbels are an additional charge. This farmhouse country style is perfect for your log cabin, cottage, lodge, mountain, lake house, or farmhouse décor. Disclaimer regarding color: Distressed wood absorbs more stain and comes out darker. You may choose a color from my samples which reflect how the stain normally looks on distressed wood. This is only for a reference. Sorry but I cannot make color matches to furniture you already have. I can make an attempt to get close in color but I offer no guarantees. I do not offer refunds based on color. If you are trying to color match I suggest you order the piece unstained and I will send along a sample piece of unstained wood to test on.To add corbels see my ad here: https://rb.gy/diijl
