HEM Architects - Details... Choosing samples. These are for Alan's renovation project, and he's been inspired by @sheffielduni's landscaping when considering how to tie the house & garden together. He's working with a material palette using earthy tones to match the brickwork. #architect #design #brickwork #landscaping #landscapearchitecture #construction #selfbuild

HEM Architects - On the drawing board. Aidan, a Part 1 Architectural student, is working with us for a few weeks and has been helping Jess to design a dining room extension for a new residential project in Sheffield. At the moment, they're exploring different options for materials and a green roof

HEM Architects - Paul has been working on a design strategy for a new house near Otley. The site is challenging in lots of ways, so we're taking it slowly with our clients to minimise their risk

HEM Architects - We've shared an update on some of the projects we're currently working on, all of which have achieved planning permission. We can't wait to continue supporting our clients to turn our sketches into bricks and mortar. https://paultestaarchitecture.co.uk/2020/05/homes-that-have-got-the-go-ahead

HEM Architects - In late August 2010, Paul started Paul Testa Architecture from his kitchen table at home. To mark a decade of practice, we’ve pulled together 12 projects that have been milestones in the company's development. Some have been built, some never left the drawing board but they’ve all been influential in the development of our thinking and approach to designing for place and people. 10. Den Bank Drive Like Paul, Alan couldn’t hold off from transforming his tired semi in Sheffield into a modern family home. The first main phase of construction just completed in time for the arrival of baby number two - in perfect Grand Designs style. As with many Sheffield sites, the house is set on a steep slope allowing the opportunity to extend downwards as well as outwards creating a generous 4-storey home with a much-improved connection to the garden and a lovely roof terrace at ground floor level that enjoys fantastic views across the valley. We have worked to minimise energy use and maximise comfort in the house. Whilst not quite Enerphit, every effort has been paid to insulation, air-tightness and ventilation to give the most comfortable and healthy home. The pièce de résistance of the project is undoubtedly the timber-clad side extension. We’ll be sharing more photos once the decorating has been finished. #sheffield #sheffieldissuper #selfbuild #planning #design #architects #architecture #interiordesign #retrofit #inspiration #oldhousenewhome #propertydevelopment #phootooftheday #instagram #passivhaus

HEM Architects - This is an ambitious project with super nice design features. Julie, our Project Architect has submitted this project (for a house in Walkley, Sheffield) for planning. She has designed a rear extension with distinctive London bricks to give the owners more space. There'll be a generous open plan kitchen/dining/living area connected to the garden. There'll be an additional guest bedroom, along with a new main bedroom suite, with a large dressing room. As you can see here, the star of the project is without a doubt the rear facade
