Darren Wang is a Taiwanese actor and model born in Taipei. He initially attended Dongshan Senior High School (東山高級中學) but was sent to a military academy in New York by his father after one semester due to a lack of interest in academics. After a brief return to Taiwan, Wang was discovered by a talent scout, leading him to the entertainment industry, and he chose to pursue acting instead of returning to the U.S. He graduated from Taipei Fuhsing Experimental High School (臺北市復興實驗高級中學) and Juangjing Vocational High School (莊敬高級中學), and later dropped out of Daou Jiang Institute of Technology and Management (稻江科技暨管理學院), Department of Communication Studies. Wang was in a relationship with Malaysian actress Joey Chua (蔡卓宜) from May 2021 to November 2023. In January 2024, Wang confirmed his relationship with Mu Xuan (沐轩). In January 2016, Wang terminated his management contract with his boss, Angie Chai (柴智屏), leading to a lawsuit. Wang claimed that during his time with the company Qunxing Ruizhi (群星瑞智), he earned less than NT$1 million, and when requesting to end the contract, Chai demanded a NT$30 million termination fee and continued commissions for four years. The dispute was settled in March 2016, though the terms of the agreement were kept confidential. On Feb 18, 2025, he was arrested by the Taiwanese authorities for allegedly dodging military service but was released on bail of NT$150,000 (S$6,140) later that day. He is suspected to have employed a crime syndicate that receives money in exchange for helping people evade mandatory conscription. On March 4, 2025, he was reportedly arrested and is under investigation for a previous attempted murder. He allegedly hired someone to beat a ride-hailing driver and a dispatcher from the ride-hailing platform severely in 2024. The case was exposed because of his military duty evading scandal.
