I think it comes down to the paint color; it just didn’t work out the way I hoped. (Side note- I already started taking decorations off the walls). Do you have any paint recommendations? I think I should add curtains as well. I am not a very fancy person. This room is where we eat all our meals. Would love to get some advice on how to style this room for a young family- it is a well used." Thanks so much for your time, Lauren -I would suggest taking the chair molding down to make the room feel taller. Or just painting it the same color as your new wall color. I love Dove White from Benjamin Moore- same color that was used on this entire house . -As far as window treatments I would take off the shutters to open up the space. You could do fabric roman shades or bamboo shades would look good too! -You could also replace that light (even though I love it!) adding a chandelier would really cozy up the room. A chandelier like THIS would look great. -The walls don't need much- I would focus on the light and also putting plates and things you use daily in the corner built-in cabinet.
