In this activity, students will determine the vertex of a quadratic by completing the square. There are 10 rounds to complete, in each round there are 4 different quadratics that have the same vertex. Each student will be responsible for finding the vertex of one of the four quadratics each round and work together to ensure all members of the group get the same vertex. Included in this download are task cards with just the questions for each round AND task cards with space to determine the vertex (this version works best if you use plastic sleeves and white board markers - enabling you to reuse them every year). See tips in the downloaded package for strategies I have used to make this activity a success! Questions: A total of 40 different questions are available. Students are only responsible to complete 1 question per round for a total of 10 questions. All vertex’s are integers. All quadratics are written in standard form. Level of Difficulty: Basic completing the square worksheet. Time For Activity: 40 - 50 minutes. Prep Required: If you are not using plastic sleeves or whiteboard markers, print out and cut question task cards. Similar Activities: Solving 2 Step Equations
