Text structure is such an important reading skill for students to practice and master! Being able to identify the text structure of a text opens so many doors for students when it comes to comprehension and understanding texts. This resource contains several activities and resources for you to use to explicitly teach informational text structures to your students, including comparing text structures. About the Text Structure Passages: There are four sets of text structure practice passages included in this resource (available in a printable version and a Google Slides version): Set 1: The first set includes one shorter, more focused paragraph per text structure. This set is best for introducing each text structure. Set 2: This set of texts includes 12 different passages on varying topics for practice at identifying and proving text structure of texts. Each page includes a medium-length text and a question that asks the students to determine the text structure and write how they know. Set 3: This set includes paired passages on the same topic but with a different text structure. Set 4: This set includes one multi-paragraph passage for each text structure. Each passage in the set has the same overall topic of pollution. This set is more advanced and perfect for small-group lessons and/or lessons that focus on comparing and contrasting text structure. ***The variety of passages and activities in this resource will allow you to introduce and teach text structure as well as enrich and extend this skill. About the Digital Text Structure Activities All of the text structure activities in this resource are also included in a digital version to be used with Google Slides. NOTE: The text structure task cards for Set 1 are available in a Google Forms version as well as a Google Slides version.
