Oh My, Where do I start!! I am absolutely IN LOVE with this shoot. I know you read before in my post on the Grecian Inspired shoot, that the “Love Nook” was my brain child. Well, this …
It makes me sad to think that once read and passed around friends a few times, fashion magazines are thrown away. Forgive me for sounding cheesy here, but I feel like its throwing away art. Thousands are spent and endless hours for everyone involved. From the photographer, the people who make up the fashion stories, the head of wardrobe, make up artists to the people who create the set. But once thrown away, our memories of that one image that made us feel something go as well. I think that the saddest part is when we forget that image that is created by an artist who is fighting for a cause. So here I am, blogging about a fashion story that I think should be remembered. The reason for this, is because the use of black and other race models is at its lowest percent. Its hasnt been this low in recent years. In February 2011, Franca Sozzani decided to publish and all black fashion story in Vogue Italia. This shoot includes some of the most beautiful black models to date. I hope all the fashion scouters out there remember this shoot because in my opinion, anyone who is an artist and therefore creative, should not see the color or race of their models as a barrier. There arent many photographs of black models in the 1920's, but here we have: Ajak Deng, Aminita Niara, Arlenis Soga, Chanel Iman, Georgie Badid, Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Kinee Diouf, Lais Ribeiro, Melodie Monrose, Rose Codoro, Sessilee Lopez owning this shoot! This story was created by Emma Summerton and this story is inspired by 1920's harlem/renaissance era. This was a time where finger waves and cigarette holders were a fashion must. These clothes have be created by Louis Vuitton, Donna Karen and Versace, take a look...
