This animated PowerPoint teaches students to identify and compare points of view or perspectives among characters (RL.3.6). Students see how beliefs, attitudes, values, and experiences shape points of view. Folktales such as The Three Little Pigs, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and more are used to show examples of characters' points of view. HOW IT WORKS When folktale characters get together, they give different perspectives on the same events or happenings! But why? Each character illustrates how their beliefs, values, attitudes, and experiences have shaped their perspective on each other. This resource is designed to scaffold student learning through graphic organizers that examine the four areas of Point of View: experiences, beliefs, attitude, and values. Each story has six slides that present two characters from the story. Each character gives his/her perspective. Then we examine each character’s beliefs, attitudes, values, and experiences. Finally, the student is asked to discuss and compare and contrast the characters’ points of view with their point of view. Included are graphic organizers in black and white for easy duplication. You can continue to use the graphic organizers with other stories from your collection once the students have learned to distinguish different points of view, including their own. The clipart is animated and has sound to keep the student’s attention (the sound can be turned off or down if needed). Includes Presenter's Notes with teaching tips, slide advancing, and when to use graphic organizers.
