Miss Challenge's Polygon Robots! In this activity, students build their own robots out of polygons. Each sheet has a series of robot body parts (head, body, arms, etc.) and a list of clues to solve. Once they figure out which polygon is being described, they will use that information to make their robot. It’s a great way to ask students to apply their mathematical knowledge in a new way, and children love to put on their detective hats to solve the clues. This set comes with 30 different clue sheets, 10 of each level (high, medium, and low). While the clues in each level are the same, they have been mixed up for the robot parts so that no student has the same paper. This makes the differentiation less obvious and students don’t even realize that they are a part of a particular group. In this case, levels are denoted by the number of gears behind the robot. The first level of sheets (for those students who need more information) have one gear. Students who need more practice have two gears. High-ability learners get a robot with three gears. This highly-motivating activity is a constant crowd-pleaser!
