Felicity's Invitation and Fashion Doll ~ Retired First Year of Release, 1991 Pleasant Company Tag First Version Doll Authentic American Girl / Pleasant Company Imagine the excitement when Felicity received a red-ribboned invitation to the Palace. No wonder she wanted a beautiful new dress like the one she saw on the wooden fashion doll that she spotted in the milliner’s shop. Fashion dolls showed colonial women what stylish ladies in England were wearing so they could copy the clothes for themselves and their daughters. Felicity's Invitation and Fashion Doll was introduced to Felicity's Collection in 1991 and was associated with the book Felicity's Surprise. This doll is tagged 1991, the first year of release. Doll: Wooden jointed doll. Painted features of blue eyes, black hair, pink lips, porcelain skin and hands, and white stockings with pink slippers. Dress resembles Felicity's Christmas Gown and Stomacher; non-removable blue taffeta gown and petticoat with simplified stomacher, gathered sleeve cuffs, and lace trim. Attached lace pinner cap with blue bow. Attached bouquet of pink silk flowers with bead centers in doll's right hand. This is the first version doll with a spool shaped head; the later version released in 2000 had a spoon shaped head. 1991 Pleasant Company tag. Invitation: Cream invitation folded into thirds. Red ribbon bow tied around. "Mrs. Merriman" in calligraphy.
