Hi Denise, I was wondering if you could give me a tip on how to get the odor of mold & mothballs out of fabulous furniture that I'm finding at thrift stores. This Victorian style reproduction vintage sideboard buffet cupboard has been professionally Panted in Fusion Mineral ‘Everett’ green, a gorgeous and earthy shade reminiscent of sage & olive tones. I have tan washed the natural wood on the beautifully carved legs to lighten them and then treated them to a sumptuous coat of antiquing glaze to give them an aged look. The little touch of gold trim really pops against the warm wood tones of the legs. Inside the spacious cupboard, and on the two outer panels I have decoupaged with an arts and craft style paper in complimentary greens, with foliage in shades of taupe and a touch of burnt orange. The colours deliciously accent the natural grain in the solid wood legs for that extra special touch. The entire piece has been given a coat of antiquing glaze to add depth and age to the wood detailing, as well as top coated with Polyvine satin varnish to give it a rich lustre and added protection from every day use. This sideboard buffet cupboard can be used as a linen cupboard, for your crockery or indeed to store your wine! 🍷 🍽️ 🛏️Measurements H - 86.5cmW - 91.5cmD - 45.5cmDuring the upcycling process I have taken care to ensure the finish is to a high quality. The paints I use are professional grade specifically for furniture upcycling. I prefer the mineral silk paints rather than chalk paint - this makes my products durable and gives a good quality finish. I use top coats such as Polyvine decorators varnish for added protection.* This unit has both age and history and has been previously loved, there may therefore be signs of a life well lived. I have however taken care to lovingly restore it (as with all my work) to a beautiful re-loved statement piece that would sit proudly in any homeIf it's a perfect factory finish you're after then upcycled may not be the best choice for you. All my pieces are chosen for their character and (like all of us) may have small flaws that add to this. I also take on commission / bespoke pieces so if you would like to find out more, please get in touch. Thank you for your interest in my piece!
