All you need is a circle punch of any size to create these adorable birds!
I've been in a creative slump for a few weeks and too busy to try to get out of it. So, I cleared a couple hours yesterday to sit down and create! Since I attended OnStage (a Stampin' Up! conference) earlier this month I got early access to a few new products that will be coming out in the new catalog next month. One of my favorites is the Free As A Bird stamp set, which I used to create the following three cards. I also used coordinating DSP (Designer Series Paper) and ribbon, which are part o

This means existing Club Members will still be able to cancel subscriptions or make edits to payment or shipping info up until the 4th of each month. LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Grand Tropical Flamingos“, is a huge set of 21 dies that can be used to build a beautiful tropical scene with an oversized flower, two big flamingos, and tons of tropical leaf options. I used all of the dies in the set to make this bright love card with a pretty ink-blended background, but many of the dies work great separately as well. I cut all of the shapes out of brightly-colored cardstock and shaded them a bit with Distress Inks. The background was created by inking a piece of Waterfall Cardstock with Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks before embossing it with this month's Embossing Folder of the Month. After adding all of my die-cut elements, I finished off the card with a fun greeting from the Tropical Sentiments BetterPress Plate Set...this set is free when you subscribe to the Deluxe Caboodle Club this month! SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, “Tropical Friends“, is another great one for summertime cards. The kit contains 19 cutting dies that allow you to cut a toucan, parrot, and branches for them to sit on along with tons of leafy elements to embellish. I used the dies in the kit to create a blue macaw and his toucan friend and added some bright ink-blended details with Distress Inks to really make them pop. To keep the focus on the beautiful birds, I just embossed some white cardstock with this month's 3D Embossing Folder of the Month for a bit of texture. After gluing all of the die-cuts to the front of the card, I trimmed off any overhanging parts with scissors. To finish off the card, I added a couple of Silver Mix Gems to the flower centers and another fun greeting from the Tropical Sentiments BetterPress Plate Set. STITCHING DIE OF THE MONTH This month’s Stitching Die of the Month continues with the beautiful tropical theme of course! “Stitched Pineapple“, is a set of 6 dies that cuts a fun layered pineapple design you can stitch as well as a many-layered leafy crown for him to wear. I cut the pineapple body out of Sunkissed and Tuscan Cardstocks, shaded them with Distress Inks around the edges, and then stitched the whole thing up with gold metallic thread. The leaves were cut from several different green cardstocks and inked before layering as well. After assembling the pineapple, I added Gold Mix Gems to the center of the stitched areas for even more interest. The rest of the card is simple - a background made from Dune Cardstock embossed with this month's Embossing Folder of the Month and a sentiment from the Tropical Sentiments BetterPress Plate Set. CLEAR STAMP & DIE OF THE MONTH KIT For those of you who like to stamp (and maybe even color?), this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, “Let's Get Together” is a set of 6 stamps with two large tropical bird and leafy images as well as four pretty sentiments. If your subscription includes the coordinating dies, you’ll also get 6 dies to cut the edge of the large images as shown and all four sentiments. I stamped the images from the kit onto white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers before cutting them out using the coordinating dies to create this bright card for a friend. The way that the images come out from the corners and the dies cut the outer edges makes them perfect for a fun gate-fold card, but I chose to just mount them on top of my card base with foam adhesive instead. The background was created by inking a piece of white cardstock with Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Ink before embossing with this month's 3D Embossing Folder of the Month. To complete the card, I stamped a sentiment from the set, cut it out with the coordinating die, and popped it up in the top corner with foam adhesive. GLIMMER KIT OF THE MONTH This month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month, “Tropical Bloom” contains 3 Glimmer plates that can be used to foil a huge floral image as well as two sweet sentiments and their coordinating dies. I applied Fuchsia Flower Hot Foil to white cardstock using the flower image from the kit and added some pink and purple ink to the bloom using the coordinating Tropical Bloom Stencil (ALSO FREE with the Deluxe Caboodle Membership this month) before fussycutting it out for this easy card. The background was created by blending Distress Oxide Inks down a panel of white cardstock again before embossing it with this month's Embossing Folder of the Month. After I popped the large floral off to one side, I trimmed off any overhanging bits with scissors. To finish off the card, I added a foiled sentiment from the kit as well as some Crystal Mix Gems. EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH And here (again!) is this month’s beautiful Embossing Folder of the Month, “Latticework“. It embosses a crosshatch pattern that is super versatile and perfect for just about any kind of card. To get the effect shown here, I embossed a piece of Latte Cardstock using the folder, rubbed a white inkpad over the raised design, and then applied Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink over top of the white ink with a brayer. A lot of the sentiments from my recently-released Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set go perfectly with this month's theme, so I pulled it out and stamped a thank you greeting in brown ink before cutting it out with the coordinating die. To frame the sentiment, I added some of the leaves from this month's Large Die of the Month Kit and flowers from the Small Die of the Month Kit. Crystal Mix Gems were used as flower centers. 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH This month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, “Scattered Tropics” might be my favorite of all time and is perfect for all of your summer cards. I blended Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink down a piece of white cardstock before embossing it with this month’s folder. After rubbing a gold metallic ink pad over just the very top of the design to bring out the details more, I trimmed it down to 4 x 5.25 and mounted it on a top-folding A2-sized white card base. I stamped another greeting from my Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set in Versamark Ink and embossed it in gold before cutting it out with the coordinating die. To embellish, I added some leaves and flowers cut from Forest, Mirror Gold, and white cardstock using the Small Die of the Month Kit. BETTERPRESS OF THE MONTH This month’s BetterPress of the Month Kit, “Wild & Free“, contains 2 press plates that create a beautiful tropical frame as well as a fun sentiment for the center. This image looks amazing colored in, but I wasn't feeling much like coloring this time, so I used my Glimmer Hot Foil System to apply the image to white cardstock using Gold Hot Foil instead. Once foiled I blended a pretty sunset over top using Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks and then cut the center out of the panel using a new die set that will be coming soon (you got a sneak peek!). I popped the colorful panel up on top of an A2-sized white card base that I had foiled the sentiment from the set onto in Gold Hot Foil as well. STENCIL OF THE MONTH This month’s Stencil of the Month, “Tropical Spray” is a set of 2 6 x 6 layering stencils that creates a fun background perfect for summertime or anytime cards. I used the stencils to apply Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to white cardstock for this colorful birthday card. For my focal image, this time I created a Scarlet Macaw with the Small Die of the Month Kit and perched him on a leafy branch. My background was a little busy, so I added him on top of a piece of white cardstock cut with one of the Mirrored Arch Labels Dies. To finish off the card, I used another fun sentiment from the Tropical Sentiments BetterPress Plate Set (free with the Deluxe Caboodle Membership this month). WAX SEAL OF THE MONTH Lastly, here is a look at this month’s Wax Seal of the Month Kit. The “Tropical Hi” Wax Seal Kit contains one pretty wax seal stamp as well as a bag of coordinating wax beads. My kit came with the Teal Wax Bead Mix, so I melted one of each color included before pressing it with the stamp to create this pretty marbled seal. To bring out the design more, I added gold metallic marker to the raised design of the seal. The background is made from Fruit Punch Cardstock embossed with this month's Embossing Folder of the Month before inking around the edges with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. To frame the wax seal (I've used this layout several times this month because I love the look!), I cut lots of leaves and flowers using the Large Die of the Month Kit. I love how bright and pretty this turned out! I hope you enjoyed these fun summertime card projects and thanks so much for stopping by today. Happy Tuesday crafty friends! This is my last week of a wonderful four-week vacation, boo. Although I am ready to put the flip flops to the weekends and get back to reality! I finally got my hands on this older Clearly Besotted stamp set - Some Birdie Loves You! It was backordered for so long! I am just in-love with these birds! The illustration of the stamps is, in my opinion, the sweetest! I used my Copic Sketch and looked up love birds on google to get the right coloration. I then fussy cut my images. For the background I used my favourite MFT could stencil, this is a must-have in my craft room! The foliage is an older Memory Box die as is the rainbow. Once my card was put together with these elements, I stamped the music notes from the Some Birdie Loves You set and white embossed the sentiment (same set) on a Lawn Fawn banner. I finished my project off with Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets! Thanks so much for taking the time! Kim
Recently my friend Linda and I ordered some Hero Arts goodies and as it turned out we both bought a lot of the same items. Linda came up with the great idea of challenging each other to use the same product on our next cards. To start with we both used the Color Layering Dimensional Bird from this set. I haven't seen what Linda has made yet but can't wait to see her creations on her blog. I love the way this set works with stamping the bird outline initially and then stamping the patterns using separate stamps. It would be fun to use the outline for paper pieced birds too or even for straightforward colouring. Well let me tell you I went a bit bird crazy trying out different colour combinations and here are just some of the birds I stamped on a soggy Saturday afternoon. Stamp (Hero Arts) - Color Layering Dimensional Bird I saved these birds for times when I need to make cards in a hurry but made three cards using other birds I had stamped. As I wanted to makeover this card for the current Hero Arts challenge I went with neutrals and added white to the stamped image using a white watercolour pencil. Stamps (Hero Arts) - Color Layering Dimensional Bird, Everyday Sayings & Let the Angels Next up I stamped the bird using Hero Arts mint to emerald ombré ink. The branch was stamped with Hero Arts cup o' joe shadow ink. Stamps (Hero Arts) - Color Layering Dimensional Bird, Everyday Sayings & Let the Angels As I had used neutral and monochromatic birds on the first two cards, I thought for my last card I'd go with a blast of colour and used a mix of quiet morning and summer splash inks. Stamps (Hero Arts) - Color Layering Dimensional Bird & Everyday Messages The little nest was made from scraps I had left over from making the first two cards. I'm submitting these cards into Simon Says Stamp's Use a Stamp Challenge.

Today, I'm thrilled to share a card creation that's close to my heart. I recently had the joy of working with the delightful 'Bird's Eye View' stamp set, and I'm excited to walk you through the process of bringing this whimsical masterpiece to life. Here is the project; Stamp Set: The 'Bird's Eye View' stamp set is a treasure trove of cute elements. For this card, I found myself drawn to the adorable owl stamp. There's something undeniably charming about owls, and I knew they would be the perfect stars of my creation. Repetitive Stamping: To make the background, I employed the repetitive stamping technique using the owl stamp in Smoky Slate. By strategically stamping the owl in a pattern across the cardstock, I created a captivating backdrop. The repetitive pattern added depth and visual interest, setting the stage for the main focal point. Whimsical Coloring and Personal Touches: For the central owl stamp, I chose to use Stampin' Blends for coloring. These alcohol markers provide a smooth and vibrant finish, allowing me to infuse the owl with lifelike colors. But here's where the whimsy truly comes into play – I added glasses to the owl! Because, why not? It's all about embracing creativity and making the design uniquely mine (thus, the sentiment). Sentiment from the Heart: The sentiment "There's No One Like You" couldn't be more fitting for this project. Just as each owl in the forest is unique, so are we, with our quirks, individuality, and creativity. This sentiment serves as a reminder that embracing our own uniqueness is something to be celebrated and cherished. Final Touches: With the focal owl beautifully coloured and adorned with glasses, I carefully cut around the own and adhered it to the card, allowing it to take centre stage against the charming owl-patterned background. The combination of repetitive stamping, whimsical coloring, and a heartfelt sentiment resulted in a card that felt truly special. Colour Palette and Materials: For the colour palette, I used warm earthy tones to bring out the coziness of the forest theme. The Stampin' Blends provided a seamless coloring experience, and the high-quality cardstock ensured a sturdy base for my creation. Wrap-up and Inspiration: Crafting this card using the 'Bird's Eye View' stamp set was a delightful journey into creativity and individuality. It reminded me that the joy of crafting lies not only in the end result but also in the process of expressing ourselves through art. I encourage you to embrace your unique flair in your next creative endeavor. Card ideas using the Stampin' Up! Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper
Voor de achtergrond van deze kaart lime, turquoise en witte verf aangebracht met een plastic kaartje. To create the background of this card I first applied lime, turquoise and white paint using a plastic card. Een stencil over deze ondergrond gelegd en daar doorheen gesponst met dezelfde kleuren. Next I sponged through a stencil using the same paint. Tekst gestempeld op een restje aquarelpapier, daar de vogel overheen gestempeld. De vogel kleurde ik daarna met Distress Inkt en een waterpenseel. I stamped text and bird on a scrap of watercolor paper and colored the bird with Distress Ink using a water brush.
