Cave Creek, in the Paparoa National Park, on the South Island's West Coast, is a limestone gorge that runs through luxuriant rainforest, as thick as any on earth. The various streams that gush out of the mossy banks at different points along the gorge, are captured from nearby watersheds, or adjacent valleys, via limestone cave passages.
