V&A Rotunda Chandelier. Blue and green blown glass, Dale Chihuly, Seattle, USA, 2001
Exceptional Italian Fuoco 20th century chandelier handcrafted from Murano glass in Santo Stefano di Camastra on the Mediterranean sea. It features an explosion of contorting tubular forms, reminiscent of the abundance of snakes crowning Medusa's head. Each glass tube is individually hand blown and attached to the central brass body with screws installed on each piece. With its myriad twisting forms, this fixture closely resembles the works of Dale Chihuly, one of the world's most esteemed contemporary artists working in blown glass. The chandelier is attached to a circular brass base by a brass rod, whose height can be adjusted. The show stopping fixture accommodates fourteen Edison bulbs, providing as much as 1400 watts of power, enough to brilliantly illuminate and create an element of artistic style to any space! Dimensions: 53" diameter x 96" height. Stem 15.5" height. Ceiling plate 5.5" diameter. less
