They separate the Iberian Peninsula from the rest of continental Europe, and extend for about 430 km. For the most part, the main crest forms a massive divider between France and Spain, with the tiny country of Andorra sandwiched in between. The Col d'Aubisque above is a mountain pass in the Pyrenees 30km south of Tarbes and Pau in the department of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region of France. The Aubisque is one of those hors catégorie cols that make the legend of the Tour de France. We were high up in the Pyrenees at the top of the Col d'aubisque even higher at 1,750 m. The weather had been cold, cold enough for snow on the top of the mountains. The white mountain tops are reaching here higher than 2600 meters. The highest peak in the Pyrenees is 3,404 meters high.
