New video game Epic Mickey: the Power of Two sees the resurrection of a little-known Disney character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald was the very first cartoon that Walt Disney created in the 1920s, and was at the time a major silent cartoon star. However, in 1928, Walt Disney lost the rights to Oswald to Universal Pictures and famously in response, decided to design and create a mouse instead. Whereas Mickey went on to become an iconic Hollywood star in the 1930s, and the Walt Disney Company grew rapidly, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was forgotten and seemingly lost to time. In 2006 the Walt Disney Company bought back the rights to Oswald from Universal, and for the very first time ever, he is about to star as a major character alongside Mickey in the new game. He has a voice for the first time, and has been fully brought back to life based on all his old cartoons. The theme of the game is around Mickey and Oswald going through 80 years of Disney history to save long lost Disney characters, such as Clarabelle the Cow and Ortsenia.
