We loved the window clings we made for the holidays using glass paint and so I thought its time to make spring-themed window clings. I made a free printable using hand-drawn images I used as template for you to try this window clings. I hope you will enjoy these and be sure to read till the end for some extra tips and tricks and don't forget to check our holiday edition to know more about how to use glass paint. Materials Used: Glass paint Liquid leading Any plastic with a glossy surface Template (Free printable) Paint marker (black) optional Step 1: Use liquid leading to draw the outline of the window clings on the plastic surface. Keep the template below the plastic surface(I'm using a stencil blank) for guidance. Allow it to dry for 8 hours or overnight. Step 2: Fill the inside with glass paint. Make sure the paint touches the outline to prevent holes while peeling the window clings after it is dry. Wait for this layer to dry to add details like eyes(i.e.,in bumblebee), patterns on the butterfly. Step 3: Add the details. You can also use the paintbrush to add finer details. To do this, squirt a little paint and use the paintbrush and add details as you would normally do with acrylic paint. You can also add the details before the first layer of paint dries(as the paint doesn't mix), but you have to be very careful as it is very difficult to clean up if you do anything wrong. Step 4: Once all the layers are dry, peel it off the plastic surface to stick on the windows. Tada! Things you might want to know: 1) Once the first layer is dry, I felt in some of the stickers in a few areas the paint layer is very thin and applied a second layer of paint. When the paint is dry, the second layer of paint looked patchy. You can see this in a red tulip flower and also in the daisy-like flower's leaves. If you want to avoid a patchy look, try filling a smooth layer of paint in the first try. 2) You try marbling two colors of paint by squirting it and mixing it with a paintbrush or toothpick. Marbling is not noticeable much once dry, you have to take a closer look in order to notice. So if you want to try I recommend trying it with contrasting colors. 3) Paint marker works well for details, After trying to use "Charcoal black" color glass paint for details, I felt it looked almost grey and so I tried using a black paint marker to enhance the details and it worked perfectly. I hope these tips and tricks will help you make your own window clings. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
