Greater Manchester Police’s City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team held a community event day on Saturday (14/4/12) at two locations in the city centre. The Arndale Centre saw young people take part in a competition to design a new uniform for police officers with every entrant being given a raffle ticket for a grand prize draw. Local businesses provided a range of prizes for the raffle and for high quality work spotted during the day. Urbis saw a fancy dress competition and football penalty shoot out, again with raffle tickets and prizes. However, the day had a serious side, with local residents and shoppers getting a chance to meet the officers and discuss any of their problems and concerns. Manchester City Council staff were also on hand to answer questions and give advice on a range of subjects.
