These Ella ginger jars are painted in my signature modern floral pattern and are topped with a gold knob. Pairs perfectly as a set or makes a beautiful statement on its own. Choose from 13", 10" or 7".
Ginger jars are classic, but they’ve grown in popularity over the last few years. I’ve long collected this blue and white pottery, but my collection has evolved over the years to include higher-quality and more beautiful (IMO) pieces. Previously, 100% of my ginger jar collection was from Home Goods and there is absolutely nothing wrong... View the Post

I called myself a decisive person in training in my last post. I just want to reiterate that. Anywho, I decided to change the paint color in the kitchen. We (I) haven't actually painted yet, but I was set on a particular color (smoked oyster by Valspar). A few things happened that disabled me from getting the paint when I wanted to. Luckily so. Now I've gone back to the original thought of painting the kitchen a light gray. think long think wrong right? Oh well. Next, I decided to carry out a modern Moroccan theme throughout the downstairs. Since we have an open floor plan, you can see all rooms from a central location. To make each room different would look crazy. I was browsing the internet looking for inspiration for Moroccan design. I love the jewel tones, and most of all the unique patterns. Here are a few images that I enjoy: On our trip to South Beach last year, we stayed at a wonderful hotel, Palmer House, which had a modern Moroccan theme in the rooms. It also solidified the love of Moroccan decor. Here are some pics: credits 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8-12

After you determine the reason you want to decorate above your cabinets, and you evaluate the space you have, the way to do it becomes crystal clear!
I am thrilled to be able to share some inspirational art with you every Tuesday morning as Rachael's new 'Art and Creative Writer'. This week, we're paying tribute to the creative genius that is Kaffe Fassett. Kaffe was a native of San Francisco until he moved to London in 1964 to paint. He has since become one of the world's most prolific textile designers and has been honoured as Britain's greatest colourist by the Colour Group (Great Britain) who awarded him the prestigious Turner Medal earlier this year. Whichever medium Kaffe works with, be it textiles, ceramics, needlepoint, patchwork, painting or knitting, his signature style is evident through his vibrant use of colour. His professional achievements during his 50 year career are too many to mention and his influence continues to inspire through his many published books, exhibitions and workshops. Over 100 pieces of Kaffe's work will be exhibited at the Fashion and Textile Museum from 22nd March (this Friday) - 29th June 2013. ‘Kaffe Fassett – A Life in Colour’ is a celebration of the work of one of the great practitioners of contemporary craft.' Kaffe Fassett was the first textile designer I was introduced to at school by my teacher who was a massive fan of his work. I wasn't aware he produced such amazing paintings though so to find these on his website was great, just goes to show that his talent knows no limits which is a lesson to us all. More arty inspiration next Tuesday - have a great week! What I am really wishing for these days is a house in which to put all of my wishlist items! But alas, our house hunt has not been going as easily as we first anticipated it would. I am very sad to report that none of the houses I featured in my first house hunt post became our home; we were so in love with the first house featured in the post that we were getting an offer together when we learned a nearby road will soon be expanded to a four lane highway! So very sadly, we walked away. The second house was just down the street and also too close to this road, so we cancelled our appointment to see it, as well as our appointment to see the third house, which we learned was already under agreement--ugh! We have since gone on to see many more houses, only to fall in love and lose yet another one. Ouch. So right now we are feeling a bit frustrated, to say the least. I know, I know--I need to be patient, but there was a part of me that hoped we would be in a home before Christmas, but instead we will be hauling a Christmas tree out to our my father's house via ferry and then golf cart... Well, at least a girl can dream--and trust me, I am getting really good at it! So on that happier note, next up on my looong wishlist is a bullseye mirror; I love the traditional federal bullseye mirrors, but really any bullseye will do the trick, as all of these stately, sophisticated mirrors are distinguished by their fish-eye glass. To learn more about the significance of the bullseye mirror, head over to the Matters of Style blog to see what Sarah has to say about them, but in the meantime, look into these: Tinsley Mortimer's NYC apartment Tinsley Mortimer's NYC apartment (for more of this gorgeous home, check out this post from The Glam Pad) LeSueur Interiors via Better Homes and Gardens LeSueur Interiors via The Foo Dog Ate My Homework Meg Braff (of course!)
