Overview This beautiful design uses the Nui Shibori technique to create a floral repeat. Nui Shibori is created by a simple running stitch along the cloth then pulled tight to gather pleats before submerging in an indigo dye vat. The stitches act as a resist to create the patterns. A print textile designer and expert in the Japanese art of shibori, as well other hand-dyeing techniques, one day she was tempted to transfer her work to wallpaper and the rest, as they say, is history. Inspired by the brilliance of Mother Nature, the magic of India, and the beauty of ancient Japanese crafts, Louise designs a new Tatie Lou collection of original prints annually. Shibori Indigo Fabric, Hand Dyed Cotton Shibori Fat Quarter This indigo fat quarter, is an example of the traditional Japanese Shibori pattern called 'White Shadow'. The grid pattern is hand stitched and the stitching is pulled tight in order to compress the fabric and resist the dye in certain areas. After dyeing in Indigo, the stitching is removed and the pattern is revealed. It is a repeat pattern but contains random, irregular markings making it truly one-of-a-kind. The photos here are a composite of several fat quarters dyed in this pattern. You will receive one that is similar.
