My name is Liga Liepina and I spend all my free time doing equine photography. Born in Latvia, I moved to Iceland at the age of 14. I have been obsessed with horses since I can remember myself. It started with collecting all possible newspaper clippings, posters, and calendars of horses and once I had my first-ever riding lesson, I knew horses were going to be a huge part of my life.

*** NO CREDIT TAKEN FOR PHOTO! *** Designed (the original and expansions) by Cooperstown, NY architect Frank Proctor Whiting in 1922. Owned today by the CEO of Pemcor oil refineries and former CEO of Tosco oil - Thomas O'Malley. The Tudor-style mansion, is regarded as one of the more impressive residences looking out upon Long Island Sound. As chronicled in The Great Estates, the Junior League of Greenwich’s history of the town’s magnificent old properties, the house dates back to the 1920s. The original structure, a somewhat traditional Tudor, was built for James P. Cahill, who ran a brokerage firm. The next owner, George H. Townsend, who was an entrepreneur, expanded the house threefold to make room for his seven kids. In addition to adding a big east wing, Townsend put up a turret, which became his private domain. The expansion was also done by architect Frank P. Whiting. In 1933, it should be noted, Horse Island hosted a wedding reception for Townsend’s daughter Kay and Dick Chapman, whose father owned another storied manse, since demolished, on Round Island, in Greenwich Harbor. The house, with an assessed market value of $29 million, spans more than 14,000 square feet. It has nine bedrooms and thirteen bathrooms. Separately @ 10 Flagler Drive, Greenwich CT is another stone mansion designed by Frank P. Whiting for James P Cahill
As summer approaches and the future of international (and even cross-state) travel remains uncertain, US travelers are itching to go somewhere, ANYWHERE where they can experience adventure. Now that National Parks are opening up, why not consider camping with wild horses on Assateague Island? Yes, you read that right: you can camp with wild horses! A tiny strip of land that runs along the coast of Maryland and Virginia, Assateague Island is a unique destination that is easily drivable from the Baltimore/DC area, and an accessible summer road trip destination for most East Coasters. **Please visit HERE for most recent updates involving park health and safety updates and regulations including openings and closures. ** Why Assateague Island? Assateague Island is a haven for natural beauty. If your experience or impression of middle Atlantic beaches involve commercialized boardwalks, amusement parks, and overcrowded beaches, get ready for a breath of fresh air. I have to admit, I haven’t had much experience camping but this place really blew me away! Sleeping in a tent over sand is much more comfortable than the hard ground, as the sound of the waves at night was so relaxing. Assateague State Park vs Assateague National Seashore Assateague […]
