Vintage 1950's Japanese LUCITE pearls in a wonderful large teardrop shape are the focal point of these retro style earrings. These lovelies are approximately 1" long and 5/8" wide with dimples, creating a pearl which is quite realistic looking at a fraction of the cost of a natural pearl. They hang from another Japanese lucite pearl 9mm in diameter and from the same era. Both of these beads are over 50 years old and in beautiful condition. Total length of these earrings is approximately 2 1/4" in length and they've been finished on gold plated french ear wires with vintage gold filled bead caps. These are from my one-hundred-year-old collection of pearls. These were grown in the 1920s. Japanese saltwater Akoyas, before Mikimoto set the standards for Japanese pearls. Each farm had its own standards of quality. These pearls have a slightly pink nacre, creamy texture, and just the right size. These are classic elegance. Not too big or too small. They move so they capture the light. I keep a set in my purse so that I can pop them in if I want to feel a little better dressed.
