I decided I couldn't wait to use my tag background I made this morning, so got cracking with my Lavinia Stamps. In case you're wondering what I'm talking about, earlier today I posted a couple of backgrounds I made on tags. Initially, I played about with positions of the mushrooms and snails, as I wanted to create a 3D like image. I stamped the "Meadow Mushrooms" in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink for the ones closest and Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink for the ones further back, this helps to create the perspective of distance. I then stamped the snails using the "Snail Set", the "Luna Lights", "Creeping Vine" and "Willow" all stamped in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink. I masked off a circle in the sky for the moon/sun and edged it to make it stand out from the rest of the background. I created a landscape using a torn edge of a piece of copy paper and dragging a blending tool downwards to gently distribute ink. I used several colours of Posca Pen to create a floral landscape (little tiny dots of colour). I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Pen to add touches of subtle gold shimmer to the snails, mushrooms and the lanterns.
Over at Lavinia Stamps this weekend, Tracey Dutton, Jo Rice and Sarah Anderson had a craft off, making a tag using the new Lavinia Stamps "Forest Leaf" stamp, so that prompted me to have a play too, making this tag. I used a manila coloured tag for the base then used two shades of green and two shades of orange Ranger Archival Inks. The colours I used are: Prickly Pear, Fern Green, Monarch Orange and Bright Tangello. Using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink, I stamped the "Forest Leaf" stamp in the top left corner and then again in the bottom right corner. While the "Twilight" ink was out, I inked the edges of the tag. I used Versafine Clair "Warm Breeze" turquoise ink to stamp the "Winter Spice" verse over the peachy/orange coloured areas. I then used Versafine Clair "Twilight" to stamp the sentiment, which is part of the Lavinia Stamps "Heartfelt Verse" stamp set. I then started to colour the leaves using Derwent Inktense pencils, applied with a paint brush. I gave the lighter areas of the leaves a few brush strokes of "A Wink of Stella" to give some shimmer to the leaves. I then used some copper coloured metallic paint and a fan shaped paint brush, tapped to produce tiny splatters of colour across the tag. I gave the surface a waft of the heat gun to ensure it was fully dry, before mounting the tag on to some dark blue card.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving (in the US), a safe Black Friday and Small Business Saturday and are onto a successful Cyber-Monday. I stayed home for all of it and spent a little time getting acquainted with my new Lavinia stamps. As the title of this post indicates, I'm totally hooked on them! Pictured below is my favorite piece so far. All the color... sigh. I keep watching videos and learning more each time. My Lavinia collection is limited, but I guarantee it will grow. My scene was made on a semi-gloss cardstock. I'm not sure what it's called or where to find it as it was a friend share. It sure was nice to work with. I cut a circle mask for the moon, then blended SU Vintage Violet and Purely Pomegranate for the sky. The snowy landscape is made with torn paper masks and a combination of SU Always Amethyst and Lovely Lilac. About the moon -- I mentioned the circle mask, but I also stamped a Lavinia moon stamp inside the circle after the sky was blended. I applied light pressure in SU Lovely Lilac and achieved a very subtle and natural look. The masked circle is larger than the stamp, but I added shading around the edges so you don't notice. I'll try different colors and ideas with this and have infinite fun as I go along. After blending the sky I added water splatters, then white acrylic paint splatters. The nature of Lavinia stamps give rise to all kinds of whimsical possibilities. There are so many ideas I'd like to try. Not selling, just saying. This is a winter scene, but not a Christmas card. I'll share in two challenges today: Sisterhood of Crafters -- Anything Christmas or Winter NBUS Challenge #44 -- Never before used schtuff. My Lavinia stamps are NBUS. Back to a busy week after a few somewhat quiet days. I'm in pretty good shape for Christmas, but there's a whole lot of other life stuff to take care of, too. Wishing you a beautiful day!
