This is a 12" x 18" poster of a series of watercolor lichens and mosses. With thousands of species of both moss and lichen in the world, I have limited my illustrations here to 12 common genera of each. I have drawn a particular species for each of these 12 for illustration purposes, but the genus of each illustration can usually be found on more than one continent and even in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. This poster has been professionally printed onto lovely matte 100 lb card stock and is initialed and dated on the reverse. ★ Frame not included ★ The generous top and bottom margins are perfect for framing using a wooden poster hanger (which also makes it very easy to change out posters every now and then). This listing does NOT include the wooden, magnetic poster hanger used in the photo. Your poster will be carefully packaged in a kraft tube for mailing. ★ Frame not included ★ I do my best to portray colors accurately, however different monitors (and cameras) will vary in how they display colors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER AND GET 10% OFF: https://twigandmoth.myflodesk.com/newsletter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ***Purchase does not transfer copyright. Pure Evernia prunastri absolute. Oakmoss is a species of lichen native to the mountainous temperate forests throughout the Northern Hemisphere, including parts of France, Portugal, Spain, North America, and much of Central Europe. Oakmoss grows primarily on the trunk and branches of oak trees, but also the bark of other deciduous trees and conifers such as fir and pine. The absolute has an earthy top note with hints of pine, layered upon the lush aromas of moss, woods, decomposing leaves, and moist earth. It is traditionally used in perfumery as a fixative, especially in chypre fragrances, to add a deep, mysterious, evocative scent. This is an ingredient meant for perfumery and requires a bit more work and experience than a mobile substance like an essential oil. Ways you can render your Oakmoss more mobile is by gently heating it in a double-boiler - or, you can dilute it by mixing the smallest bit of ethanol (perfumer's alcohol) directly into the bottle. If you plan on using this absolute for a perfume blend, you can use a small wand, or a toothpick, to gather some of the absolute from the bottle and then soak it into your blend. ASPECTS: agrestic · rich · warm · earthy · honeyed · hay-like APPEARANCE: dark green, opaque, semi-solid or solid massCOUNTRY OF ORIGIN: France PLANT PART: lichenPresented in a 5ml or 15ml black glass bottle with a euro dropper top that may have to be removed depending on the viscosity of the item selected. Please note that essential oils and absolutes vary widely in thickness and consistency. Essential oils, absolutes, and other pure plant extracts should not be applied to the skin without being properly diluted in a cosmetic carrier (such as jojoba oil, ethanol, epsom salts, etc.) Always patch-test when using an essential oil or absolute for the first time, and research whether or not the extract you are using is skin-safe, or that it is appropriate for its intended use. Do not ingest essential oils or apply them internally, and avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and consult a knowledgeable health practitioner before use when pregnant or breastfeeding. Store in a cool and dry area.
