This cropped, modern fisherman merino wool sweater is the result of a very special project: it is sustainable, it is handmade, It is cruelty free and it is eco friendly. It has all the things that we consider important in Blue Anemone. The wool is from DLANA project, 100% Spanish merino from certified TRANSHUMANT and extensive farming with traceability. The TRANSHUMANCE is a very important practice for several reasons: It keeps traditions alive, it stops the depopulation of the countryside which is one of the main reasons of forest fires and It also has a positive impact on ecosystems. The sheep help keep the fields clean and they carry seeds from one place to other helping nature to grow healthy and strong. The wool has no chemicals (no bleaching,no dyes, no carbonizing), it is completely natural and very soft. The detergent used to clean the wool is fully biodegradable. Also our sweater preserves the black merino from disappearing. This race is in danger of extinction. The animals are ethically treated. The wool comes from transhumant, extensive farming. The sheep are kept outside, free. The only time that the sheep are kept inside are: because they are ill, because they have just given birth or because of extreme cold weather on the mountains. The shearing technique we use is the Tally-hi which considers first the wellness of the sheep. Sheep are not stranded, they're hold carefully between the shearer's legs. Another important thing is that we don't use the mullesing technique, in Spain we don't have parasites or flies that affect the sheep and wool. DLANA wool also complies with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. We are so proud of this project that creates such a positive circle. We help nature, the country people and hand knitter artisans.
