When I was in my teacher preparation program (in California), I had to take a lot of tests. I mean, a lot. There was the RICA, the CSETs, and CalTPAs. Those acronyms are far too familiar if you are a California teacher. Let’s just say, I had to take some of those exams more than once. (It hurts when you miss it by just one point!) All these tests were taken under Pearson, the leading educational assessment provider. Have you ever wondered who grades your teacher preparation tests? What about your students’ state tests? It’s not just a computer. Many teacher preparation tests require you to write essay type answers and even draw out your answers. This requires for a human to grade your answers. Well, those humans, are teachers! An online test scorer is a great way to supplement your income as a teacher. It is also a great position for military spouses, stay-at-home parents, retirees, and recent graduates. Each company has their own process and guidelines, all of us which require a minimum a bachelor’s degree and a home computer/laptop that can support their testing software. They all offer training. You can score tests on various subjects as well as score students from elementary aged to adults. Many companies offer “projects” at a set schedule or flexible. Some only accept scorers from certain states as well. Scoring peak schedules are typically in the spring from February to June. (Spring is when students are taking their state tests.)
