Sample sizes are approximately 4" L x 2" W x 3/8" thick. PLEASE NOTE - Listing photos 1 and 2 are the color options that are currently shown in our shop catalogue and are considered our stock colors. Photos 3 - 7 include additional stains that we currently have in stock and are available by request. Our stock colors are shown among the other colors but they have their brand representation shown in photos 3 - 7. Just to explain the letters in front of most of the stain names - they are there to indicate the stain brand (as there are a few same color names but the actual colors are different across the brands). M. is Minwax, V. is Varathane and S. is Saman. Shown in photos 1 and 2: Our stock Minwax stains are Driftwood, Early American, Special Walnut, Provincial, Espresso, and Red Mahogany; Our stock Varathane stains are Weathered Gray and Ebony. We use kiln dried, select grade Pine for our products and samples. It is important to note that every piece of wood is truly unique and takes stain differently than the next. Pine naturally contains knots and grain variations - and some color variance. The natural wood is most commonly a creamy white or a pale yellow and knots are brownish, providing a nice contrast. Occasionally, the wood can have reddish/brown areas (that is from the inner most portions of the tree, aka: heartwood). Our stained products and samples are sanded to 220 grit and are finished with two coats of Satin Polyurethane for protection. They have a smooth-to-the-touch feel that makes for easy cleaning. The Unfinished option is left raw and comes ready for stain or paint to be applied. Both the Unfinished and Finished Pine are likely to darken in time. These samples are to provide you with a frame of reference only. Depending on the characteristics of the wood, the product you purchase may vary lighter/darker than the sample. The stain itself may also have slight color variations per can. The Samples themselves are provided FREE with the purchase price being for the shipping for us to send them to you expeditiously. That is why they are not returnable - because they don't technically have a value. ***The product photos on our shop are of mantels we have made. We do make every attempt possible to display accurate color representations of our stains with our photos but please understand that we can't guarantee an exact color match every time. Accessories shown in any of our photos are not included as part of the purchase. For all customer photos used, the photo credits go to the customer who has provided us with the photo (either by including it as part of their review of our product or by private message). The shelves and mantels shown in our listing photos and customer reviews were created by Anjowga Woodworks and thus are representations of our created works - please be cautious of imitations.***

You are guaranteed a unique result. Lye stain is a color stain that can be used for various purposes, for example to age or gray furniture. The product is intended for use on oak wood, scaffolding wood, pine or teak wood. In the wood photos you see the wood in the middle that is untreated, the light color next to it has been treated once with lye stain. The dark color has been treated twice with lye stain. You can apply different layers, according to your wishes. The more layers, the darker the effect will be. It is therefore wise to test a piece on the bottom or side first.
