I recently had the opportunity to try my hand at something a little bit different than my traditional blacksmithing and bladesmithing. I was commissioned to build and install a black pipe loft ladder. Made from 1.25" and .5" black pipe this unique loft ladder was a true challenge. The treads are 1.25" thick by 5" wide black walnut with bevelled edges and a laquer finish.

A beautiful staircase can be the star of a home. Don't hesitate to think outside the box if you have a unique stair case railing idea.
Our old farmhouse was built around 1900 – when people were apparently very skinny (our stairway is only 33″ wide) and short. The staircase is so narrow that it left us stumped for the last few years on how to add a handrail to bring it up to code, and more recently to make sure neither of us took a tumble with the baby. Then I saw this photo on pinterest and was SO inspired: Since we live in an older farmhouse, we like to use a combination of aged wood, tile/stone, and different metals in our decor. It gives the home a rustic feel, and fits with the age and style of our house. So a metal handrail felt like the perfect choice, and would also sit much closer to the wall than a traditional handrail. We didn’t have a ton of room to work with here, so this was the perfect choice. Not to mention, inexpensive! This year, I finally said, that's it! I'd been waiting and hoping to move or at least renovate my tiny bathroom, and I'd been using the fact that it was small to allow me to keep from organizing it and keeping it tidy. Even the smallest of bathrooms, ones without cabinets and drawers, can look

A copper towel rail available from 30cm to 80cm. Can be buffed to a high shine, rose gold finish or left to tarnish and age beautifully too. This rail is designed to give an industrial, retro or steampunk look to your bathroom or kitchen instead of boring chrome or stainless steel. My rails are made using industrial pipe which is polished to a high shine finish but left untreated, a lot of people using copper pipe like to lacquer their product to maintain the shine, I don't. The reason I don't is twofold. First of all, not everyone wants a high shine look they like the copper to tarnish naturally which increases the appeal for them, if you do want it to remain shiny then just use some Brasso once in a while. Secondly lacquer chips, no matter what you are promised, lacquer chips, that means you have an ultra shiny shelf bracket with areas of it tarnishing naturally where the lacquer has chipped off, it does not look good. All the joints are cold welded with an industrial grade two part polymer adhesive which contains metal, they do not come apart. I don't solder joints because it is not as strong as cold welding and the heat also affects the look of the pipe and fittings. Each rail has two munsen rings and backplates for securing the rail to the wall. If you would like any more information on my products please feel free to message me.

After removing the door to the 10’x10’ cupola space at the top of our home, we needed a balcony safety railing. We needed something sturdy, stylish, and highly functional. Because we had made a pipe railing in our last home and had many items created out of pipe in our new home, we stuck with pipe a
