It was written by Alun Owen and originally released by United Artists. The film portrays 36 hours in the lives of the group as they prepare for a television performance. The film was a financial and critical success and was nominated for two Academy Awards including Best Original Screenplay. Forty years after its release, Time magazine rated it as one of the 100 all-time great films. In 1997, British critic Leslie Halliwell described it as a "comic fantasia with music; an enormous commercial success with the director trying every cinematic gag in the book" and awarded it a full four stars. The film is credited as being one of the most influential of all musical films, inspiring numerous spy films, the Monkees' television show and pop music videos. In 1999, the British Film Institute ranked it the 88th greatest British film of the 20th century. A Hard Day's Night is the third studio album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 10 July 1964 by Parlophone, with side one containing songs from the soundtrack to their film of the same name. The American version of the album was released two weeks earlier, on 26 June 1964 by United Artists Records, with a different track listing. In contrast to the Beatles' first two albums, all 13 tracks on A Hard Day's Night were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, showcasing the development of their songwriting partnership. The album includes the song "A Hard Day's Night", with its distinctive opening chord, and "Can't Buy Me Love", both transatlantic number-one singles for the band. Several of the songs feature George Harrison playing a Rickenbacker 12-string electric guitar, a sound that was influential on the Byrds and other groups in the folk rock movement.

When you look at the cover of an album, you should know exactly how it sounds. It may seem like an odd conundrum, but the artwork of a record can often — whether subconsciously or explicitly -— affect one's experience with the music within. Maybe it's an elaborate, commissioned piece of art. Maybe it's a photo that captures just the right kind of moment. Whatever the sleeve is, we know a great one when we see it, as it intrinsically ties our emotions to the music. Of course an immensely popular album, while immediately recognizable, doesn't necessarily mean that its cover is legendary — just popular. Thus when it comes to listing the most iconic album covers of all time, legendary artists like Michael Jackson, for example, won't make the cut here, as his album covers are just that: extremely popular. Topics like this are meant to inspire healthy debate, so let's dive into this list of the "most iconic album covers of all time." Let's find out how they came to be and why they remain hallmarks of any music lov

Bob Dylan, The Times they are a Changin, 1964, CBS 62251 The Times They Are a-Changin' is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on January 13, 1964 by Columbia Records.] Whereas his previous albums Bob Dylan and The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan consisted of original material among cover songs, Dylan's third album was the first to feature only original compositions. The album consists mostly of stark, sparsely arranged ballads concerning issues such as racism, poverty, and social change. The title track is one of Dylan's most famous; many feel that it captures the spirit of social and political upheaval that characterized the 1960s.
