The pieces are held together on the back with a 1/2 inch thick wood piece, it will not hang flat on the wall, if you choose to hang it. This wood sign measures approximately 11x11 and is the perfect size to hang on a gallery wall or use on a side table or mantle. It does come with hardware attached if you choose to hang it. These natural flaws in the wood are what make each piece unique with a character of its own. ALL of my signs are made using NEW Clean Top Grade Pine that was cut right here in the USA. My Pallet Signs are all made by me, using fresh clean pine, never dirty used wood. Wood screws & glue hold my pallets together. Each sign is hand sanded, painted and distressed by me, using many coats of paint to achieve that worn old look. My painting, aging technique & lettering is all Hand done. Small imperfections are part of the hand stenciling process, so you may see a slight imperfection on my signs here & there. There is a notch on the back for easy hanging.
