Take it in the Ear Day is referenced by various holiday webpages, but no one seems to know why it was created, or who created it. Maybe it's a day for people to intently listen to others, or to let someone yell at you without responding. Maybe it's a day to get your ears cleaned out at a doctor's office, or to get your ears pierced. Still, maybe the name of the day is a euphemism for something else, or a slang way of telling someone to "stick it". If the creator of the day would have made sure someone else took the reasoning behind the holiday in their ear, we would all know what the day was about.

This is one of my favorite centers for students to practice beginning sounds, simple sight words, CVC words and sentence structure. Students will love getting their detective on and working out the mystery sentences. To complete the activity, students use their early phonetic skills to write the beginning sound of each picture using whiteboard marker. They can then copy the sentence onto the template provided or into their books while adding the correct punctuation. There are 24 different boards included and an answer key for easy marking and self-checking. Includes both a USA and AUS/UK version.
